He grinned and stepped in my direction. As soon as he was close enough, I gripped the pipe and kicked him squarely in the nuts. He dropped to the ground, called me a fucking whore, and struck a match. I screamed and thrashed against my restraints.

When a loud crash came from upstairs, I screamed again. Logan and Aiden were halfway down the steps when Danny got to his feet. One punch was all it took for Aiden to knock him out. The flames were spreading quickly. “I am over here.” I yelled. “Cut me loose”

Aiden used his pocketknife to free me. Logan scooped me up in his arms before charging for the stairs. Aiden was right behind us, but when I looked back, he had stopped. “We can't leave him here to burn to death.”

While Logan and Aiden argued about it for a few seconds, I turned to where Danny had been lying on the floor, but he was no longer there. Through the flames, I saw him rushing towards Aiden and screamed. “Look out, he’s got a knife.”

The fire had not reached the first floor yet. Logan sat me down. “Get out of the house and call the fire department.” I hesitated, and he yelled, “Get out of here now!” Then he launched himself from the steps, feet first, into Danny's chest.

What seemed like an eternity later, standing in the front yard, I regretted listening to him. There were still no signs of Logan or Aiden, and the house was now engulfed in flames. Sirens wailed in the distance, but they would arrive too late. Just as I became convinced I had lost the only two men I ever loved, Logan emerged from a wall of flames.

He had Aiden over his shoulder and was dragging Danny by his hair. As soon as he was a safe distance from the fire, he let go of Danny and laid Aiden gently on the ground. I ran to them. They were both covered in blood. “Are you hurt?”

“I’m fine, but he has lost a lot of blood.”

I stared down at Aiden. There was blood pouring from his stomach. He was unconscious and looked so pale. I sobbed. “Is he dead?”

“No, but he will be if I can’t stop the bleeding until help gets here. Go get the first aid kit out of my trunk.”

Logan packed the wound with gauze, and we held his hands until EMS arrived. Then we moved out of the way so Cody could go to work. As they were loading him into the ambulance, Aiden opened his eyes and looked up at us. His voice was barely audible. “If I don’t get the chance to tell you again, I love you both very much. Take care of each other.” After he closed his eyes, I collapsed in Logan’s arms while fireworks filled the sky.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN

Ember-Three Months Later-Key West

I was sitting poolside, enjoying the sun's warmth. A pretty redheaded woman came over and introduced herself. Her name was Savanna. She and her husbands owned Mango Cove. She asked how we were enjoying our stay so far. “We just arrived this morning. To be honest, I wasn’t sure we would make it.” She gave me a confused smile, and I invited her to sit with me.

I told her the whole story. How the three of us met. The way we fell in love and how Aiden and Logan had found me in that basement. I explained Aiden was in such critical condition when he arrived at the hospital; the doctors had not been sure he would pull through.

They took him into surgery right away. The butcher's knife had penetrated the peritoneum. They were able to repair his kidney, but he got an infection and was in the hospital for six weeks. It had been a long recovery process, but last week the doctors had finally said he could resume normal activities. I looked over to where Aiden was stepping out of the pool and waved. When he came to join us, Savanna said, “Ember was just telling me what a hero you are. She said you almost died saving her life.”

“It was just a flesh wound.” He blushed and looked at Logan, who had just returned from the buffet with a plateful of shrimp. “This guy here is the actual hero. If it hadn’t been for him, we would never have found Ember.”

Just then, another man joined us. Savanna introduced him as Josh. I recognized him from the Travel Channel and assumed he was her husband. “Honey, this is Ember, Logan, and Aiden. They checked in this morning and were telling me the most fascinating story.”

“Beautiful place you have here,” Aiden said. I could tell he didn’t want to talk about what had happened to us and was eager to change the subject. “Tell me, Josh, has Mango Cove always catered to the poly community? It seems to me last time I was in Key West, it had quite the reputation as a swingers’ resort. “

“That is old history.” Savanna’s face looked as if she had bitten into something sour. “But yes, you are right. Back when my parents owned the place, it catered to a different type of client.”

“We thought it important that polyamorous families, like ours, have a place where they can vacation without having to explain their relationship to anyone,” Josh said.

“Our husband, Brock, will be back this evening,” Savanna told us. I’m sure he would love to meet you. Please say you’ll join us for a drink.”

“Maybe another night,” I said. “We are going to watch the sunset at Mallory Square, and then there is something I have been waiting a long time to do.”

She gave me a knowing smile. “Just remember, no sex in the hot tub.”

Because of Aiden’s injuries and the burns Logan sustained pulling him from the fire, our sexual activities were curtailed for a long while. I quit my job at the Piggly Wiggly and we spent the first two months nursing Aiden back to health. When Logan was cleared to return to work, he extended his leave in order to help with Aiden. It was during that time that our relationship grew stronger and our love for one another deepened. Aiden even learned to appreciate Impractical Jokers. Now he complained when we watched it, because laughing made his belly hurt.

His condition improved, and a couple of weeks ago, physical intimacy returned to our relationship. But there was still one thing we had not done. We had agreed to save it until our first night in Key West. Something to make the trip extra memorable.

Sunset was as amazing as Aiden said it would be. When it finally dipped beneath the horizon, we made our way back up Duval Street. Logan and Aiden were on either side of me. We held hands, our way lit by the signs that hung above the various bars and shops. We paused occasionally to look inside an open door but had no interest in going in. There would be plenty of time for that later in the week. Tonight, we just wanted to get back to our room.

When we reached Angela Street, the air was heavy with the scent of lilacs and jasmine. As Logan opened the gate, I could hear the muted sounds of music playing near the pool. People were gathered around in conversation. Several waved and invited us to join them, but we declined.

My heart raced as I unlocked the door to our cabin. This was no longer about fulfilling some life long fantasy. I burned with desire for us to merge our bodies the same way we had merged our hearts. These two incredible men had saved my life in more than one way, and I ached to become one with them.

By the time Logan closed the door, I was already undressing. From the bed, I encouraged them to join me. But rather than just stripping out of their clothes, they slowly undressed one another. Their movements were deliberately slow and after removing each article of clothing, they would stop and share a kiss. I asked, “Do you have any idea how much that turns me on?”
