“Excuse me.”

I turn and she shrugs. “Mikhail.”

“Is that his name?” I say it out loud, surprised I never heard it until now.

She laughs softly. “Just as I thought. Who do you work for?”

“I don’t understand.”

“What agency? I mean, whoever arranged your date should have at least filled you in on the man you’re expected to fuck later on tonight.”

“How dare you?” I glare at her and hiss, “For your information, nobody sent me and there will be no fucking, as you put it, tonight.”

“Interesting.”

She leans against the basin and looks me up and down. “So, why are you here?”

“Because the bastard kidnapped me and made me his dining companion. It’s not by choice, I can tell you.”

“Kidnapped you?” Her eyes widen. “I don’t understand. Mikhail doesn’t need to kidnap women; he always has a long line beating a path to his door. You’re lying.”

“I am not.” I pull myself up to my full height and say breathlessly, “If you don’t believe me, help me.”

“Help you! How?”

I note the excitement in her eyes, and I say with a deep breath.

“Distract his attention and I’ll slip out. Give me at least ten minutes to make my escape.”

“I have got to see this.” She laughs incredulously and then says with amusement. “Okay. I’ll help you. Good luck, you’ll need it.”

As I make to leave, she whispers, “There’s a door to the left leading to a fire exit. It’s alarmed, but the staff use it to take a cigarette break, so it’s switched off.”

“How do you know?”

“I know a lot of things, um, I didn’t catch your name.”

“I didn’t offer it.”

I smile and turn away and toss over my shoulder, “He’s all yours, by the way. I can’t stand the bastard.”

I giggle to myself as I slide out of the restroom, checking to see if the coast is clear and I’m grateful for the heads up as I locate the fire exit and, as she said, it appears unlocked.

As I slip into the darkening shadows, I laugh to myself. Fucking amateur. Let’s see who’s laughing now.

CHAPTER 11

MIKHAIL

Iwatch Lilli go, and the woman at the next table follows her. I can’t for the life of me remember her name, which isn’t a good thing to admit. I know I fucked her. I remember fucking her and I also remember how annoying she was when I asked her to leave. She wanted more. They always do and wasn’t satisfied with the large tip Damien offered her.

They always want more, which is why I operate a strict one night only policy. Women who earn the money and can’t complain when I remind them it’s in their job description.

Tonight, I will break my own rule and as I said to Lilli, just because I can.

Ten minutes pass and a wry smile touches my lips. This will be interesting.

The woman I fucked returns and stops beside my table, her companion appearing anything but happy about that. I wish I was better with names because I can’t for the life of me remember hers. That’s my one failing. Women’s names. I can remember every name of the men I’ve killed. The men who have stepped in my path and the men who have earned my attention. The women are another matter entirely because they are fleeting glimpses of flesh and that is all. Not that I hate women, I love their soft curves and gentle moans as I use them for my pleasure.
