“We don’t.” He slides inside my body as if his cock is the key and as he fills my body and mind, he growls, “You filled out the form, remember? You’re on birth control and I am clean. There is nothing preventing me from getting as close to you as I want.”

I groan as he moves inside me, loving how he fills me to the point of pain. My arousal is doing a good job of helping with that and as he fucks me deep, owning my body and reminding me who’s in charge of it, I abandon any doubts, push away any questions and give myself to him completely.

CHAPTER 37

MIKHAIL

Iam so done playing games. I have laid everything out to reassure Lilli. If anything, I’ve done the unthinkable in my book. I have laid my heart bare to be picked apart by vultures. She could ruin me far more effectively than any of my enemies can because now I have Lilli in my life, I realize I wasn’t really living at all.

If I could stay here for the entire flight, I would. It surprises me that all I want is to spend time with her. It’s not just sex either. It’s her. I have been surrounded my entire life by people who don’t challenge me. They do as I say because I have a zero tolerance for anything else. I’m not saying I don’t listen, but when I’ve made my decision, it’s final.

Lilli doesn’t understand that. She challenges me and I like it. I love it when her filthy mouth runs away with her, and she flashes an angry glance in my direction. I need that. I need her and as we lie tangled in one another’s limbs, I am surrounded by happiness for once in my miserable life.

“Mikhail.” She says softly and I love the way my name sounds on her lips.

“Yes, baby.”

“Why are we going to London again?”

I’m prepared for this and twist her hair in my fingers as I explain.

“My father was a customer of Burning Roses.”

She stiffens and I hate what she must be thinking. Hell, I hate that he went there at all, but it is what it is.

“His name is on the guest list of a party happening tomorrow night. His companion is, of course, Iris Mahoney.”

“And we are going because?”

I smile at the hard edge to her words and say carefully, “Because our friend Carter Lamont told me that the woman who always accompanied my father to these things also has an apartment in Kensington London. I’m hoping it’s the same woman and can learn more about what he was up to behind my mother’s back. Possibly get a lead on who may have wanted him dead.”

She sits up and stares at me with disappointment written all over her face.

“You’re going on a date with her, aren’t you?”

“I’m going in my father’s place, Lilli, and I told you the reasons why.”

She bites her bottom lip, and I can’t help loving how adorable that is, despite the anger on her pretty little face as she contemplates me leaving her behind as I step out with another woman.

“I see.” She says through gritted teeth, and I harden my voice.

“You see nothing, Lilli. You see me doing my job, that is all.”

She pulls away and hisses angrily, “Of course. I know my place. Resident obsession for when the great man decides he wants to play. I’ll just wait in my box while you play with another toy and be grateful for the attention when I get it.”

She doesn’t look back as she heads into the bathroom and for some reason, it makes me smile. Lilli is jealous. Why do I like that so much?

No woman ever walks out on me. They wouldn’t dare, but Lilli dares because she cares. Despite what happened earlier, this is what has put a smile on my face. Angering Lilli. This could become my favorite game to play.

I don’t chase after her to reassure her. Why the hell would I? I don’t have to explain myself to anyone. I never have, and I’m not about to start now. Lilli will soon learn that business always comes first to a Romanov, and it always will.

I clean up in the cabin next door and head back to the main one to find Damien.

“Mikhail.” He nods as I drop down on the seat in front of him.

“Katerina?” I ask, noting she is missing, and he says gruffly, “Kicking the shit out of Vincent in the gym.”

I smile because Katerina loves a worthy opponent and Vincent is a kickboxing champion and they usually enjoy passing the time on flights sparring with one another.
