Fuck, maybe he’d never gotten over Eleri wanting to be with someone other than him. I didn’t even know anymore.

I sure as hell was not going to be the pack leader of a group of princes, however.

I turned back to Eleri. Her lips were blue. “What the fuck did he do to you?” I shook my head. This was like the bruises. No, Sinclair and I were going to have a talk, and if he didn’t get it through his thick skull that I wasn’t going to let him be careless with my omega, I would keep her away from him, and that was that.

I stripped off my clothes, including my boots, and I got us both in the shower. I thought the lukewarm water was too cool, but Eleri shied away, saying it was too hot. She moaned into my chest, asking me for a knot again.

I stroked her hair. “Hey, princess, you’ve got to warm up.” What if they’d actually damaged her? Should I be googling hypothermia right now?

Fuck.

I PUSHED PAST Rohan on the porch, going inside the cabin. Fuck, it was cold.

Rohan came in right after me and Sinclair brought up the rear.

Rohan started to say something.

I put a finger in his face. “Don’t ask.”

“It’s my fault,” said Sinclair.

“It’s not,” I said, sighing, because it wasn’t. It was more complicated than that.

“She’s in heat,” said Rohan, spreading his hands as if this explained everything.

The room was warm, but for some reason, it sent a violent shiver through me.

Rohan gestured with his head for us to follow him, and we all went into the bedroom, where he handed both Sinclair and I blankets.

I wrapped up in mine, but I could tell it wasn’t going to do anything. I started to shiver more intently.

Sinclair hunched up, bowing his head. His nose was turning bright red. He wouldn’t look at me.

“Sinclair,” I said.

I could hear that Rohan was poking his head into the bathroom to talk to Maguire, who had Eleri. Thank goodness Maguire had his head about him.

“Sinclair,” I said again.

“Don’t,” said Sinclair. Was he sulking?

I wasn’t even mad at him. I should be, but I felt as if all my anger for Sinclair had melted away after I’d submitted to him. I understood him now, I supposed. Maybe before, I didn’t get what it was like to be Sinclair. I crowded him, putting my face in front of his. “Hey.”

“Devlin, come on,” he said with a sigh.

“We won’t do that again,” I said. “It was wrong of me to ask you to do that for me.”

He lifted his gaze to mine.

I looked over my shoulder. “Rohan?”

Rohan was coming back from the bathroom. “We should get you guys in the shower with Eleri, too. You’re both cold, and we need to figure that out before anything.”

“He needs you,” I said to Rohan.

“Fuck, what I need is for someone to take me out behind the woodshed and shoot me in the head,” said Sinclair.
