“Is it.”

“Don’t you know? I’m selfish and immature and reckless. What else about me do you find attractive, omega?”

I gave him a pointed look. “Well, you do have that scent. And the curls are nice.”

He laughed.

The waitress appeared holding a raft of drinks.

All we talked about for the next few minutes was whether we liked the mint julep or the blood orange screwdriver or the peach bellini better.

“COME ON, I know he’s here,” I said, wedging my foot into the door. Rohan and I were at the back door to the Secrets Club. I knew that Sinclair came here, and that they always let him in through this entrance. There was a room upstairs, a VIP lounge, where he liked to spend his time. He would have paid whoever was here to say that he wasn’t inside, but I knew better. “Whatever he’s paying you, I’ll double it.”

“Triple it,” spoke up Rohan.

The man looked up at me, gulping. “I’d tell you if he was here, Your Highness, I would. Not because of loyalty to you, but just because I don’t think I could disobey a direct order from you. You’re kind of scary in that way, aren’t you?”

I sighed heavily.

“But he’s not here,” said the man.

“Let us go in and look, then,” I said.

“Oh, sure,” said the man, moving away from the door. “The lounge is empty. It’s barely even 1:00 in the afternoon. Sinclair would never come here so early. Getting drunk at a club this early is too tacky for him.”

Was it? I glanced at Rohan, who shrugged.

We checked the lounge.

No Sinclair.

I thanked the guy at the door, gave him some money, and then Rohan and I got back into the back seat of our car.

The driver looked into the rearview mirror. “Where to, Your Highnesses?”

“Not sure yet,” I said to him. I turned to Rohan. “There are other clubs he might have gone to.”

“No, I think the guy back there was right,” said Rohan. “He wouldn’t have taken her somewhere like this.”

“This is where he took me,” I said.

“Well, you’re not an omega,” said Rohan.

“So, where? You think back to his place?” I said.

“Maybe,” said Rohan. “Worth a look.”

I turned back to the driver. “Windsing Palace,” I told him.

“Very good, sir,” he said.

“NO, ANOTHER BITE of that,” said Sinclair in a very deep voice, pinning me with his gaze from across the table.
