“You and me,” I whispered, shutting my eyes and rubbing my face into the bed.

He let out another sigh. “Yeah, well, me too.”

I smiled, relaxing. His hands were warm on the skin of my backside and upper thighs. A realization washed through me, one that I hadn’t quite allowed myself to have before. I was going to get to have them all. Four alphas, all for me.

That was insanity.

I never expected to be the kind of girl who settled down with anyone, let alone that many men. And not just any men, either, but tall, broad-shouldered, lean-muscled, ultra-masculine men, alpha men. They were all mine, and they didn’t even seem to mind that. “You don’t mind, do you?”

“What?” said Maguire, rubbing more salve into me.

“You don’t mind that I’m not all yours?”

“I never thought I was going to have any part of you at all,” he said with a chuckle.

I lifted my head. “No, it’s not fair, is it? You probably wanted to have a relationship with one other person, didn’t you? I mean, Maguire, I don’t know anything about your romantic history, I’m realizing. I don’t know much about you at all.”

His hands slid up onto my lower back to gently massage me. “Well, first of all, about the fairness, I think it’s fine. I used to think that in those alpha packs, it was just the alphas sort of waiting their turn with the omega, and I used to think that wasn’t fair to anyone, because the alphas only got a fraction of the omega’s time, instead of all of it—”

“Well, yeah!” I said, distraught. “That isn’t fair—”

“And that the omega would have to somehow be the only emotional connection for all of the guys,” he continued, as if I hadn’t spoken. “And maybe it is like that in some packs, I don’t know. But in our pack, it’s going to be different, and I can tell, can’t you?”

“Different how?” I lay my head down as his hands began to massage higher on my back, cleverly finding places of tension and easing them.

“I don’t only have a relationship with you,” he said. “I have a relationship with Devlin, too. And maybe, over time, with Rohan and Sinclair also. I don’t know. I can’t imagine feeling anything other than anger and disgust for Sinclair—”

“Oh, come on, everyone agrees his scent is something else,” I said. “Even Devlin.”

Maguire didn’t say anything.

“No?” I said.

“He smells like cigarettes.”

I laughed. “He smells like adventure.”

Maguire snorted. “That what you want? Adventure?”

“Sometimes?” I said.

“But not all the time.”

“No, not all the time. And the rest of you, the way you scent, it only makes me feel safe and cherished. Which I like a lot.”

“It’s my job to protect you, Eleri, but that’s not why I do it.”

“I know that,” I said. I felt like I was melting into the bed from the way he was massaging me. I yawned.

“You know, I don’t have to knot you.”

“We established that,” I said. “But I also said I wanted it.”

“If you’re tired—”

“You’re making me tired with the massage and the relaxing and your big, warm hands!” I was a little whiny.

He chuckled. “I want it, like, perfect with us.”
