“There, you’re all set.”

“Thank you.” They remained close, only an inch or so between them, just staring without words until McKenna grinned up at him.

“You afraid I might smother you in your sleep?”

His brows pinched and her smile expanded. “The whole ‘not liking to sleep all day’ thing.”

He smirked and lifted a hand to grip the back of her neck. Her palms raised and landed flat on his chest. When he leaned his face closer to hers, she held her breath. “You like me too much to smother me in my sleep.”

“If you believe that, you’re not good at reading the room. I…”

Before she could finish the thought, his mouth was on hers. His tongue eased between her lips and she moaned as she allowed hers to move with his. The way he ravished her mouth was like he was trying to memorize the taste. McKenna pressed the pads of her fingers against the firmness of his chest and leaned into Carter, allowing the kiss to shift deeper. She got so lost in the motion that when he pulled back, McKenna’s expression was hard while she panted heavy breaths, tipping her head up toward his.

“I know how to read a fucking room, Kenni.” His eyes lowered. “Now do you want me to go back across the hall or would you like me to stay in here for a little while.”

She struggled with the conflict that swirled in her chest. This man was a stranger but she felt a closeness she shouldn’t have. She was physically attracted to Carter and emotionally intrigued, but…

He wasn’t the best person to let her walls down with. Even if he was aloof about his life and who he was, she knew. Regardless, she made the decision.

“Stay.”

“You sure?” He arched a brow and she nodded.

“I’m sure.”

Carter lowered his chin, brushing his thumb across her lips. “If I stay you know what’s happening.”

She nodded and his eyes swept the room. “Condoms?”

McKenna walked to her nightstand and removed a small box which she held up. Carter wanted to ask why the fuck she had them but he didn’t want to ruin the moment. Instead he sat on the side of the bed and eased down slowly, using his one good arm to brace himself until he was sitting on the floor.

McKenna watched with a frown.

“Come here, Kenni.”

She narrowed her eyes and amusement danced in his. “You change your mind that fast?”

“No,” she rushed out.

“Then come here.”

Slowly she made her way to Carter and stepped between his legs. When his hand gripped the back of her thigh and brought her pussy to his face, she gasped and clenched her fists at her sides.

“Take these off.”

She blushed but hooked her fingers into the sides of her underwear, pushing them down the length of her legs until she was able to step out of them.

“Put your foot on the bed, over my shoulder,” he demanded and again she hesitated.

“Kenni, foot up.”

She did as he asked, feeling self-conscious with how fully exposed she was to him now. McKenna’s pussy pulsed in anticipation for a man who she knew wouldn’t disappoint. It had been months since she and her ex had decided to take a break. He was more invested in his job than her and McKenna was too stubborn to be second to anyone including his career. When he’d suggested time for them to figure out what they wanted, she hadn’t argued. That had been three months ago and she hadn’t been with anyone since.

With one swipe of his tongue, Carter knew he was about to thoroughly enjoy himself. But he still couldn’t get the thought out of his head so he asked a question he really didn’t want the answer to. “You got a man, Kenni?”

The tip of his tongue moved through her slit and when she groaned and pushed forward, he smiled.

“Do you care?”
