“Welcome to my humble abode,” I announce as we enter the palace grounds. Lily’s gasp of awe tells me she’s as impressed as I’d hoped.

“Wow, this place is magnificent!”

She leans forward to get a better look at the peacocks that strut gracefully across the lawn. Their iridescent plumage catches the sunlight, creating a dazzling display of color.

“Thank you, I’m quite fond of it myself.” I feel my chest swell with pride. “Shall we go inside?”

“Of course,” she agrees, her eyes still scanning the grounds as if trying to take in every detail.

As we walk through the grand entrance hall, I introduce Lily to the palace staff, who greet her with warm smiles and friendly nods. Though they’ve seen countless guests come and go over the years, there’s something different about this visit. There’s a subtle change in the air that seems to infuse everyone with a newfound energy.

“Everyone is so nice here,” Lily comments as we make our way deeper into the palace.

Her observation warms my heart, confirming that she’s not just another passing face but someone truly special. Apparently, everyone has heard about my bride-to-be.

“Wait until you meet my parents,” I say, hoping to ease any lingering nerves she may have. “They’re going to love you.”

“Let’s hope so.” Her gaze drifts to a window, back to the peacocks outside. “I wouldn’t want to disappoint the king and queen.”

“Trust me. You could never be a disappointment, Lily.”

The butler approaches. “Your Highness, welcome home. The king and queen have requested both your presence in the west drawing room.”

Lily’s eyes widen. “Already? How do I look?” She smooths her hair.

“Beautiful,” I answer with complete honesty.

As we continue through the palace, I realize how perfectly she fits into this world. It’s her grace, her kindness, her sheer presence. I pray my parents will see the same in her.

The moment we enter the drawing room, I can sense the anticipation in the air. My parents sit regally on a plush sofa, their eyes fixed on Lily with curiosity and warmth. Taking a deep breath, I gently guide Lily toward them, her hand still in mine.

“Mother, Father, it’s my pleasure to introduce you to Lily.”

“Welcome, Lily.” My mother’s smile is genuine and inviting. “We’ve heard so much about you.”

“Thank you for having me, Your Majesties,” Lily responds, curtsying with practiced grace.

“Please, call me Alexander.” My father dismisses the formalities with a wave of his hand.

My mother grins. “And I’m Isabella. Please, come sit with us.”

As we all take our seats, the questions start flowing freely. My parents ask Lily about her family, her education, and her charity work. I watch as she navigates their inquiries with ease, her answers thoughtful and precise.

“Your children’s charity sounds wonderful,” my mother remarks, clearly impressed. “It must be rewarding to make such a difference in the lives of those less fortunate.”

“It is,” Lily replies, her passion evident. “I believe that every child deserves a chance at a bright future, regardless of their circumstances.”

I experience a swell of pride as I watch her captivate my parents with her wit and sincerity. She truly is remarkable — beautiful inside and out.

“Tell us, Lily.” My father leans forward. “What do you think of Albavarre so far?”

“Your country is breathtaking.” Her eyes light up. “The architecture, the history, the natural beauty… it’s all so enchanting. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to experience it.”

“Wait until you see more of it,” I chime in. “I have so many incredible places to show you.”

“Speaking of which,” my mother interjects, a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Have you two considered where you’ll be going for your honeymoon?”

A blush creeps up Lily’s cheeks as she looks at me, clearly caught off guard by the question. I share a glance with her before answering.
