“I’ll send Knox back for you. Pretty sure Bullet wants to get back to his woman.”

“Works for me. This will take us a couple hours.”

Thorn stuck out his hand to Rocket who took it in a firm grip. “Thanks for the help.”

“Was gonna say the same to you.”

“Mutual satisfaction, then.”

“Agreed.”

Chapter Eleven

Cecilia

The wait for Bullet to come back was the longest of my life. In reality, I’m sure it was only a couple hours. Felt like days. Not only was I worried sick about him, but what if he didn’t come back?

I trusted him with my life. My fear stemmed from my insecurities. My fears of abandonment and feeling of unworthiness. I was surprised I hadn’t had any hang-ups about sex with Bullet, but I didn’t. I’d wanted sex with him like I wanted my next breath. Probably because, for the first time in my life, I realized how pleasurable sex could be.

I paced around the room I shared with Bullet. Lemon and Apple tried to distract me, but I couldn’t concentrate. Also, I was sure I’d bitten my nails down to the quick.

The door opened and Bullet entered. My breath caught. I wanted to run to him, but I couldn’t seem to move. My breath came out in little pants and I got dizzy. Immediately, Bullet moved to me, picking me up in a big bear hug as he moved across the room to a chair and sat with me on his lap.

“Everything go OK?” I thought that was Lemon talking to Bullet, but I wasn’t sure. Bullet was back. He was safe. If Ettore and Marco were dead, so much the better. But the only thing that mattered to me was that Bullet was home and in one piece.

“Yep. All went according to plan. Rocket was right behind me. He can fill in all the details you want.”

I felt a hand on my shoulder, which was when I realized I was crying on Bullet’s shoulder.

“Cecilia? You good? I’ll stay if you want.” I looked up to find Apple standing over us. She had a concerned look on her face, but I could tell she knew I was OK. She just wanted verbal conformation.

“Yeah. I’m all good now.” I gave her a watery smile. “Thank you both for staying with me. I’m not sure my sanity would have survived otherwise.”

“We’ll always have your back, Cecilia.” Apple smiled and leaned in to kiss the top of my head. Then she spoke to Bullet. “You take care of her.”

“It’ll be my privilege and pleasure to take care of her, Apple. Thank you. You and Lemon are perfect for this club.”

Lemon snorted. “Of course, we are. We’re fuckin’ awesome.”

That got a laugh out of me. Which seemed to be what the sisters were waiting for because they both left.

“Are you really OK? You didn’t get hurt?”

“No one laid a finger on me, honey.”

I hugged him tight. “I was so worried!”

“I’m sorry I had to leave you, Cecilia. We had them both in a place we could control and had to take it while we could.”

“I’m just thankful you’re home safe.”

“You’re safe now, Cecilia. I’ll give you this one chance to…” He cleared his throat and shook his head. “Fuck.”

“What?” I pulled back, needing to look at him. What was he thinking? “What is it?”

“I was gonna say I’d give you this one chance to leave so you could have a normal life, but I can’t.”

“Can’t what?”
