Blaine, who was now standing beside me, bit his lip as he watched her walk in as well. She looked oddly familiar, though I couldn’t quite remember where I’d seen her from before. Maia.. I believe her name was?

She looked up at him, most likely feeling his gaze on her, and his eyes lingered. She looked away, and I didn’t miss the slight pink tint that came to her cheeks.Interesting.

“Mommy! Mommy! Are you okay?” Delilah asked as I placed her on the bed, and she crawled up to Brielle’s side. Brielle kissed her forehead and nodded.

“Mommy’s okay, honey.”

“And baby?” Delilah asked, patting Brielle’s stomach softly.

Brielle laughed. “Yes, baby is okay, too.” I couldn’t help but smile at my girls, and another conversation broke out. Sitting beside her bed in a chair, I caressed Brielle’s hand and sat as more people came in to see how she was doing. Though, I found it slightly questioning why Eugene wasn’t here as well. And if I’m being honest, I also found it somewhat concerning and worrying.

Omniscient

Eugene seethed as he marched up to Calvin’s home and ripped open the door. Going to his office, he pushed the door open with force, and Calvin looked up at him.

“Eugene, what’s wrong?” He asked, noticing the man looking more than distraught.

“Do you know that Brielle almost got hit by a fucking car?” Calvin sat in thought, and Eugene continued. “You wanna know who I think planned this? I’ll give you a hint. We just sent them to jail not even a month ago!”

Calvin sighed and rubbed his temple. “God, you give them one phone call a day, and they decide to send a fucking hitman.” He muttered before reaching into the drawer of his desk.

He picked up one of Eugene’s pistols and tossed it to him. “Tried to keep you out of trouble for a little, but I guess that’ll have to wait a while.”

Picking up the phone, Calvin dialed a number, and eventually, the person answered. “I need a favor… The three people I sent you to put away are still giving me issues. Do me a favor and send them to one of my old warehouses. I have someone who needs to.. pay them a visit.”

A few more words were exchanged, and Calvin ended the call. He wrote the address down on a piece of paper and handed it to Eugene as he spoke.

“Have fun.”

Chapter sixty-three

Brielle sighed as she finished putting away the dishes and grabbed a glass of water. Looking at the door for the tenth time in the last hour, she was hoping Eugene would magically come through it and hug her, but sadly, she knew he wouldn’t. She was more concerned for him than he was for her, it seemed. She was the one who almost got hit by a car, yet she was continuously calling his phone to see if he was alright.

Much to Killian’s dismay, she wanted to visit his home to see if he was at least there. When they arrived, they found no one. As she started worrying, Killian quickly brought her home and tried to steer her mind away from the thought of her brother. It worked slightly, but not enough, thanks to her overbearing hormones.

Walking up the stairs, she smiled as she heard giggles and splashes. Going to the bathroom, she peeked in slightly to see Killian bathing Delilah. He cupped the water in his hand and poured it on her head.

“You know, sweetheart. Soon, you’re going to have a little brother or sister… Are you sure you’re ready to take on such a big responsibility of being a big sister?” She looked up at him.

“What will I have to do, Daddy?” She asked, and Killian sighed as he thought about it playfully.

“Well, there’s almost a million things that you’ll be responsible for, but I think the biggest one is making sure you give them as many kisses, cuddles, and hugs as you can.”

“I think I can do that.” She smiled, and he nodded.

“I also want you to know that Mommy and I may have to share our kisses, cuddles, hugs, and time with the new baby as well. And I want you to listen to me very carefully, sweetheart.” She nodded, and he continued.

“Just because we may spend a little more time taking care of the new baby, don’t think we won’t have time for you or that we’re ignoring you, okay? Mommy and I don’t want you to feel forgotten,” he said, and she placed her small hands on the side of his face as she responded.

“I know daddy. I know that you love me and won’t forget me.”

Brielle hadn’t even noticed she was crying until she sniffled softly and felt the tear roll down her cheek. Killian heard and turned his head to see her peeking through the crack of the door. He held his hand out for her, and she walked into the bathroom and took a seat beside him as he pulled her into him.

“My favorite girls… Don’t know what I’d do without you both.” He spoke softly, and Brielle leaned up and kissed his cheek. After letting Delilah spend a few more minutes in the bath, Killian picked her up and walked her to her room, where he dressed her and put her down to sleep.

Once he was finished, he stepped out of the room slowly and closed the door. He wrapped his arm around Brielle’s waist and smiled as she had been watching their interaction in the hall. Pulling her closer to him, he placed a gentle kiss on her lips.

Deciding to spend some time downstairs, Killian led her to the living room. He sat on the couch as she laid her head on his lap. Running his hands through her hair, they listened to the crackle of the lit fireplace and the low volume of the TV.
