Chapter eleven

Brielle

Walking out of the closet after hanging the last article of clothing, I sighed. It was Friday night, and I just finished unpacking everything. It was already eight, and Delilah was fast asleep. Silently praying she’d stay asleep the whole night, I walked out of my room and pulled on my cardigan as I looked around for Benjamin. He told me to let him know whenever I felt like having some tea because, apparently, his tea is the best this country has ever had, and I wanted to test that theory out.

Going past the foyer, I stopped midway. I looked back and saw Blaine casually sitting in the living room, sipping tea and reading a book. I walked over to the couch and tilted my head while he, in return, didn’t notice me as he was too invested in the story.

“Mr. Porter?” I spoke, and he jerked as he turned to me. The book flew out of his hand and landed on the table facing up. I glanced at it for a moment and looked back to his eyes.

“Ms. Newman… I definitely did not see you there.” He set his tea on the table, and I glanced at the book again.

“50 Shades Darker?” I questioned as he picked up the book and hid it behind his back.

“I have my reasons..”Not a very innocent one, I would assume..I thought to myself as I held back a laugh.

“Can I ask why you’re in Mr. Russel’s living room?”

“Oh well, I needed to talk to him, but he didn’t return any of my calls, so I just stopped by. Benjamin welcomed me in as usual and served me some tea. He told me Killian was busy and for me to wait a while.” Taking a sip of the tea, he moaned softly and looked over at me with wide eyes.

“You know he makes the best tea ever, right?” He asked, and I laughed.

“So I’ve heard.”

Setting his mug down, he shamelessly picked up his book. “Do me a favor and see what Killian’s up to. Thank you, darling.”

I nodded as I turned and walked up the steps. Passing my room, I looked around for his. I saw the door at the end of the hall slightly open, and a little light was coming out. Walking towards the door, I peeked inside the crack, and my eyes widened at the sight before me.

Killian was just in a pair of sweatpants, grayto be specific, and his defined chest was on full display. He wasn’t highly ripped like most hardcore gym guys but wasn’t flabby or lanky, either. He was the definition of perfect.

Unconsciously, I felt my hand find the back of my neck as I rubbed it softly. This felt incredibly invasive, but my mind was at a crossroads. Not knowing whether to run away or stay put.. especially as he flexed unintentionally while reaching for his phone.

From his perfect v-line to his abs right up to his muscular biceps. I blushed and internally groaned. If I keep blushing at the rate I am, my cheeks will surely fall off. Yet, when I’m around him.. I can’t help myself.

“What are we looking at?”I jumped out of my skin, almost screaming, as I looked up to see it was Benjamin who spooked me. I blushed even more as he made an “O” shape with his mouth as he looked through the crack. He glanced down at me and gave me a look.

“I-it’s not what you think,” I whispered in a panic, and he shook his head.

“Exactly, Ms. Newman.. It’s not what I’m thinking. It’s what you’re thinking.” He whispered back. “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to make you some tea…. You seem like you need it,” He concluded, walking away from me, and I turned to see Killian finally pulling on a shirt.

Eventually, I stepped back and knocked. I heard his footsteps approach, and he opened the door. I could still see tiny drops of water falling from his hair onto his shirt, which looked a little tight around his frame- Oh God, come on, Brielle, focus!

“Mr. Porter has requested that you join him in the living room,” I said, looking down at my white fuzzy socks. He sighed and walked past me, and as he did, I could feel his hand run over my hip slightly.

Even though it might’ve been unintentional, it left my skin feeling hot as I felt frozen for a moment. I shook myself from my daze and went down the stairs as well. Going into the kitchen, I saw Benjamin pouring my tea into a teacup. Once he finished, he placed it on a matching plate and handed it to me. I took a small sip, and my eyes shot open. He didn’t even acknowledge me as he cleaned up his area and spoke before walking away.

“I told you.. It’s the best in this country.”

I rolled my eyes, stepped into the living room, and saw Killian looking beyond livid while Blaine was still simply sipping his tea. I sat on the smaller chair in the corner and sipped my tea as well. Killian glanced at me for a split second before returning to Blaine as he spoke.

“Why the hell is Calvin going to be attending your gala?”

Blaine simply took another sip of his tea. “Apparently, one of my new executives invited him because he thought he would be a good business associate to work with. I only found out about it a few hours ago.”

“The only way I would even consider going is if he doesn’t show.”

Blaine shook his head. “That can’t happen. He already invested some of his finances into one of Mr. Carpenter’s corporations.”

“Well, then it’s settled. I won’t be attending.”
