“I’d rather spend time here than in a public environment so you won’t be too uncomfortable.” He opened the sliding door to the rooftop, showing the dinner table in the middle of the terrace. It was simple but elegant. I was surprised to see such simplicity from Killian.

He walked us over and pulled my chair out for me. Taking a seat, I turned around to see someone walking out from the corner holding a violin. He got into position and started playing a soft tune. I looked to the other side to see a man walking in with two entrées and set them on the table. The food seemed extremely exotic and delicious.

I turned to look at Killian, who was already looking at me intently.“Thank you for setting this up for us, Killian.”

“You are most welcome, though it wasn’t all just me. Benjamin helped as well.” I nodded my head and took a small bite before nodding softly. It tasted as good as it looked coming out. He didn’t do or say anything. He simply stared at me for a short while.

We’d finished after some time, and Killian stood after a moment. Holding his hand out, I blushed slightly as I slipped mine into his. I stood up and gazed at our hands as he led me to the roof’s edge by the glass barrier. Looking over the city, I stared at the beautiful skyscrapers, the bustling streets, and the starry night sky.

“….Why do you keep staring at me?” I asked, staring off into the distance, and he stepped in a bit closer.

“Is there something else I should be looking at?” He asked, rubbing the back of my hand gently as I slowly turned to look at him.

“There is just something about you..” He muttered, and I bit my lip softly as he pushed a piece of hair behind my ear.

“What do you mean, Mr. Russel?” I whispered, and he stepped in closer as he and the barrier practically caged me in.

“I mean that you’re constantly on my mind, and I just can’t get you out of my fucking head.” I shuddered softly as his hand trailed up and down my back.

“Oh…” That was all I could say. He looked down at my lips and back to my eyes.

“Ms. Newman..” He began, and I hummed almost in a daze as he leaned closer. “If I asked to kiss you right now…. Would you let me?” He asked, and we stared at each other for a moment or so. The air was tense as I was contemplating my answer. Though the dynamics of our relationship were uncertain, I knew this kiss would seal our fate.. Bringing us closer than we were supposed to be, mixing business and pleasure, and jeopardizing our professional relationship.

As I was lost in my thoughts, I didn’t get a chance to respond as he had already placed his lips against mine, igniting a fire in my body. Reaching my hands up his chest, I squeezed the suit jacket in my hand as I moaned softly. Pulling me in by the waist, he continued to dominate the kiss, taking control of my entirety..

The dynamics of our relationship had now changed.. though I doubt Killian or I were genuinely concerned at all with that fact.

Chapter fourteen

Brielle

I gently combed Delilah’s hair, which had been freshly washed, while we watched TV in the living room. Since her hair was clean, I planned to put it in a ponytail with a braid for the day. Benjamin, whom I had previously told that I was in the mood for grapes, walked over with a bowl of grapes while I continued showing him how to care for Delilah’s hair.

Things have been slightly awkward between us since the kiss I shared with Killian, especially for me. I had been trying to avoid him for the past three days, but it was difficult to do so as I had to work alongside him. However, earlier in the morning, Benjamin informed me that we would not go to the office that day, so I hadn’t seen Killian since yesterday.

“You haven’t spoken much to Mr. Russel today,” Benjamin observed, placing the bowl of grapes down. I shrugged as Delilah grabbed a few grapes to eat.

“I haven’t seen him at all today, so there’s not much to say,” I replied. Though I could tell he didn’t quite believe me, he let it go.

“Do you know of any nearby gyms? I wanted to see if I could go for an hour just to take a little breather,” I asked. He stared at me for a moment before shrugging nonchalantly.

“Mr. Russel has his own private gym downstairs. You could go there,” he mentioned, and I tilted my head in surprise.

“He has his own gym downstairs?” I asked, and Benjamin nodded.

“I’m not sure if I ever showed it to you during the house tour, but yes, he does. You have to make a left at the end of the hall.” After finishing up with Delilah’s hair, I stood up and kissed her forehead.

“I guess I could go down there. Do you think he’d mind?” I asked, placing a grape in my mouth as he grabbed Delilah’s hand and shook his head.

“Trust me, Ms. Newman, he won’t mind at all.” He walked away to feed Delilah, and after a few minutes, I decided to visit downstairs. Grabbing the rest of my snack, I cleaned up Delilah’s mess and walked to my room. I threw on a white long-sleeved crop top, black shorts, and black sneakers and pulled my hair in a ponytail. Grabbing my phone on my way downstairs, I passed by the kitchen and grabbed a water bottle.

Going down the hallway, I followed Benjamin’s directions. As I turned the corner, I caught a glimpse of Killian’s home gym through the glass. Upon entering, I flinched as I heard a loud noise, and in the corner, I saw Killian sitting on the bench with his forehead glistening with sweat and his shirt drenched.

He eyed my attire and bit his lip before returning his gaze to my eyes. The decision to stay for a workout or leave immediately was a tough one. After much contemplation, I decided to stay and just get it over with. Walking over to the yoga mats, I pulled one out and froze as I felt his presence behind me.

“Good morning, Brielle,” his deep voice appeared behind me, causing me to freeze with the mat in my hand. I turned and found myself face-to-face with him and his intoxicating, more masculine scent.

“Good morning, Killian,” I replied, mentally patting myself on the back for not making a fool of myself as my mouth practically watered. Stepping away from him, I walked to the other side of the gym and rolled out the mat as he returned to his workout.
