As I drove to work, the images of his taut abs and chest came back to me. He had the perfect amount of chest hair. Not too much and not too little. His hands had been strong and commanding— rough but not calloused. He had made me feel powerful and weak all at once. I hadn't had a man take charge and make me orgasm like that in... well, a long time. I mean, sure, a girl has her vibrator, but nothing beats the real thing.

I felt my cheeks flush, and the familiar heat rise between my legs, remembering the way he had held me up against the wall. God, why couldn't I stop thinking about it?

I parked in the teacher’s lot; it was mostly full already. My sandals scuffed on the cement steps as I hurried in the side entrance of the building. The halls were loud with students milling around near their lockers waiting for the warning bell to ring which meant they had two minutes to get to class. I smiled and nodded at the kids who greeted me as I passed by and ducked into my classroom.

With a flick of my finger, the fluorescent lights came to life. I settled down and powered up my computer. It was a few minutes until the bell, so I checked my email, finding one from the district about a meeting next week. That would be a boring start to the day, but I was glad to get it out of the way early.

The bell rang, and a few kids filtered in and then a minute later the rest of the class came rushing in, still buzzing from the last seconds before the bell.

"Good morning," I called as they took their seats. "Okay, now settle down." I gave the class a minute or two, and they were sitting, eyes on me.

The first half of the day crawled by, but soon it was lunch time and Becca and Laney were walking into my room.

"Hey, girls," I called as I took out my lunch bag and headed toward a desk.

"Hey," they chorused, each taking their usual seats on top of the desks opposite mine.

Becca had a shifty wide-eyed look that meant she had gossip and was chomping at the bit to spill it.

"So, guess what?" she said, leaning forward.

"I'm not a big fan of guessing games," I replied, even though it wasn’t exactly true. Even though I doubted Jake was going around telling people we hooked up, I was still slightly worried word was getting around. But I hid my dread, pulling out my sandwich and taking a bite.

"Fine, no fun. There's been a development in the Jake saga."

"What?" I said more eagerly than I meant to.

"Well, you know how Morgan's office is right next to mine?" she asked and Laney and I both nodded. Morgan was basically the payroll and HR person for us teachers.

"So, I was walking by her office to go to mine, and Mr. Walker was in there talking to her about complaints being placed with the school regarding inappropriate contact between Jake and some of the moms of students."

Laney and I both gasped. "No way," Laney said and then covered her mouth.

"Yes way. I don't know who exactly filed them, but I heard him asking her to keep it under wraps. Morgan agreed and said she wasn't sure what the school could do about it because it was a gray-area in the employee handbook."

I shook my head. "Jeez, I hate this for him. I mean, I heard the accounts are fake and someone is just catfishing with his info." I didn't want to tell them that Jake was my source.

"I mean, it's not exactly like he can prove that. Besides he probably wants people to think it isn't him."

I bit my lip wanting to change the subject. I was a pretty open book with these two and keeping a secret from them could be difficult under normal circumstances let alone while we were talking about the object of my secret.

"So, Laney," I said. "What's going on with your novel?"

She smiled, and her face lit up. She had been working on a YA romance novel for years about a girl who finds out she's the lost heir to a secret society of magicians and has to navigate her new reality.

"Well, I've almost finished the second draft. I've got some beta readers lined up. It's exciting and scary."

"That's great! I'm so proud of you."

She blushed, and while it was true, I was mostly grateful to have redirected the conversation.

We finished eating, and they left, and the rest of the day was spent with my thoughts drifting back to Jake and Hailey. The situation was getting worse in my head, and I didn't know what to do about it. It’s not that I was worried about it. I just knew I had to do something, but what? In a small town like this, it was hard to just keep things casual without everybody knowing.

The same questions ran through my head as I got home that night. I didn’t arrive home until after seven since I had gone out with the girls to grab tacos after school. It had been fun. Becca even made it out of there with plans for a date with Jim Mildren, one of the P.E. teachers who bartended a couple nights a week at The Munch, the restaurant we had gone out to. He wasn’t my type but all the power to her. Jim looked like every high school gym teacher with his athletic polo and khaki shorts. I bet he talked during sex like a sports announcer. "Mildren hasn't seen much action this season, but tonight could be his night." I laughed at myself, and made a mental note to share that one with Becca.

Slipping out of my shoes, I dumped my bag on the couch before slinking into the kitchen. Jake and Hailey were home, or at least Jake's car was in their driveway, and their lights were on. Who knew I could be such a nosy neighbor?

I sat down and kicked off my shoes and turned on the TV. A few episodes of Parks and Recs later and I was tired enough to sleep. Jake's house was already dark. As I stood to get ready for bed, a light tapping came from the kitchen.
