"I only have three dimes, so I’m gonna need change back."

He chuckled and I smiled at the sound. Finally, Jake told me about something that happened at the park with Hailey yesterday. "I'm not sure if it's anything. I mean she just seemed upset and not her usual self."

"Have you asked her?"

"I tried, but she said she was okay."

"I can try talking to her if you want? Or keep an eye in class."

"Would you? That would be great. She really likes you."

"The feeling is mutual. And what about her dad?"

He pressed a kiss to the top of my head. "The jury’s still out."

I snorted.

"So, how are things at your place?"

"Rodney said the town is working on expediting the fix, but they haven't broken ground yet."

"Sorry about that."

"I'm a patient woman."

He turned his face toward me. "Oh yeah?"

"Yep."

"Let's see just how patient you are." He kissed me deeply. My body pressed against him, and he moaned. His fingers tangled in my hair, and he pulled me closer before letting me go as footsteps creaked overhead. "Can I come see you tonight?"

"Please do."

"I'll text when I’m on the way over."

"See you soon," I said and kissed him again.

Then I went back home or to Amy's home to wait.

JAKE

I felt like a teenager as I snuck out of my own house and crept next door. My heart raced with excitement as I walked up to the front door.

I knocked, and a few seconds later, Molly answered.

"Hey, come on in."

"Thanks."

She led me to the bedroom where she had candles lit. She closed the door behind her and turned to me.

"Well, hello."

"Hi," I replied, feeling suddenly nervous. Molly had this way of making me feel so at ease while simultaneously turning my world upside down. Control and order are my two favorite things, and she was anything but. She was like chaos wrapped in a cute little package.

She strode over to me, placing her hands on my chest. Titling her chin up, her emerald eyes bright in the candlelight peered into mine. "So, where were we?"
