“What are you thinking about?” he asks, studying me.
“Nothing,” I answer. “Just you.”
He kisses the tip of my nose and closes his tired eyes again.
I’m ready.
CHAPTER 29
DREW
I wake up to the sound of a pencil scratching against paper. Curious and resting on a bed far more comfortable than mine at the Delta Xi house, I open my eyes to find Heidi sitting beside me with her back to the wall.
I watch her without moving, wondering how long I can stare as she glances back and forth between me and the sketchbook. She’s naked, but with a white bedsheet wrapped around her. She furrows, concentrating, and I realize that I could sit here and watch her work for hours if I wanted to.
Finally, her little eyes flick toward mine and she notices I’m awake.
“Hi,” I say with a laugh.
She sets her pencil down and smiles. “Good morning,” she says.
I glance down my body. All this staring and I didn’t realize that I’m fully buck. I thought it felt cold.
“What are you doing?” I ask.
“I’m just...” She taps her pencil on the page. “Practicing,” she says.
“Hands getting any easier?” I ask, genuinely curious about her progress.
“Uh... yes. Yes, hands are getting easier. Yes.”
I furrow my brow, sensing something... off. “What?” I ask.
“I...” She presses her lips together. She smothers a smile. She blushes. “I wasn’t drawing your hand...”
It’s written all over her face, but I have to ask.
“Then... what were you drawing?”
Heidi turns her sketchbook around, revealing her latest charcoal masterpiece.
“That’s my penis,” I say.
“Yes, it is.”
“You drew a picture of my penis while I was sleeping.”
“Yes, I did.”
I tilt my head as I study it some more. “He looks... distinguished.”
“It’s the mustache,” she jokes.
I crack up, unable to hold it any longer. “Honestly, it ain’t bad,” I say.
“Really?”
“Not too shabby at all.”
