“Oh, I thought I’d be a wonderful mom and give you the opportunity to freshen up before your dad smells you.” She grins and extends the glass toward me, along with the two aspirin in her palm. “Don’t worry,” she adds. “I won’t tell.”

I sit up, taking the pills and water as she sits down on the edge of my bed. “How’d you know?”

“Well, the stickers are a dead giveaway.”

I look at my arms. I’m still claimed by… every house on Greek Row, apparently. “Oh,” I say, the stiffness on my cheeks more than obvious now.

“Also, Connor.”

I nearly choke on my water, memories of last night flooding back. Connor was here. Leaning over me. Touching me. Kissing me…

Holy shit.

Connor Morgan finger-banged me last night.

“Connor?” I ask.

“Caught him sneaking out of here just after midnight,” Mom says.

Then I tumbled right back onto the bed to rest my eyes for a moment. And to let my heart stop pounding. Must have passed out.

“He wasn’t… sneaking.”

“He explained everything. You needed a ride home, and he escorted you back safely. Everything else, I don’t want to know.” She chuckles. “It’ll just bring back memories.”

“Memories of Delta Xi parties?” I ask, intrigued.

“I wasn’t always a big nerd.”

“Yes, you were.”

“Okay, yes. I was. But I still had fun at college. A little. Can’t say Greek Row did it for me, but I understood the appeal.” She studies me. “Did you have fun?”

Princess of Delta Xi.

While my memories of last night aren’t the sharpest, I remember smiling. And laughing.

And Connor. Lots of Connor.

But also Emerson Floyd?

“I did, actually,” I answer, smiling. “There was this bell?—”

“I don’t want to know.”

I laugh. “Okay.”

She tugs on a lock of my hair. “Don’t grow up too fast, kiddo. Growing pains can happen well into adulthood, believe it or not.”

“I won’t.”

She rises. “And brush your teeth because, honey, your breath…”

“Yeah, I know,” I say, tasting it myself.

With a nod, she leaves, closing the door behind her.

I chug my water, emptying every drop as I let the memories wash over me again.
