My gasp is drowned out by the music, and Jesse’s arms hold me upright against him when my knees buckle. His chuckle vibrates in my ear before he spins me in his arms and presses his lips to mine. My lips part, and his tongue delves inside to taste me. My core tightens with need as it does every time we kiss, and Jesse squeezes my ass with both hands just before a second orgasm rockets through me.

“Jesus,” I huff when he pulls back to smile at me.

“Feeling relaxed now?” he asks.

“Definitely,” I reply with a laugh.

“Glad to help,” he says, and my smile widens.

“Maybe we should go back to the room so I can return the favor,” I say, letting my palms brush down his chest.

“Steph would hate us if we interrupted that,” Jesse says, nodding over my shoulder.

I turn to look, and my eyes go wide. Despite the fast tempo and heavy bass beat of the music, Steph and Erik are wrapped up in each other’s arms, moving in a slow, swaying dance. Her head rests against his chest, and his face is turned upward, his eyes closed. He looks damn near rapturous, like he just discovered heaven is real and is standing at the pearly gates at this exact moment.

I look back at Jesse’s face. “You knew this would happen, didn’t you?”

“Erik has been fighting his desire for her since the beginning. I knew it would be only a matter of time before your tenacious friend wore him down.”

“Let’s go sit for a bit,” I suggest, needing to get ahold of myself after two world-shattering orgasms.

Jesse nods and spins me back around, holding onto my hips as we head through the throng of dancers. Jesse sits in the chair next to Leif, who’s been watching our drinks, then pulls me down into his lap. I lean over, and jerk my chin up to get Leif’s attention.

“We can hold down the fort if you want to go dance.”

Leif shakes his head. “I know nothing about this kind of dancing.”

I chuckle. “Neither does Erik, but he’s figuring it out.”

Leif shakes his head and laughs, then nods toward the dance floor. I look over to see Erik and Steph headed our way, her hand tucked into his. Steph is beaming, and I can’t help but smile at Erik. His expression is blank, but I can see a sparkle in his eye that wasn’t there before.

Steph picks up her hurricane and takes a long sip. “You guys want to get out of here and explore some more?”

“Sure,” I say, pushing myself up from Jesse’s lap.

He pops up and grabs my elbow, jerking me back beside him as a new voice rings out.

“Well, well, well. What do we have here?”

I look toward the voice to see three women and two men, all strangers, eyeing us with hard stares. They look confident and unafraid as the girl in front, the one who spoke, speaks again.

“A witch cavorting with vampires?” She gives Steph a heated glare. “You should be ashamed of yourself. Punished for your obvious disloyalty to your own kind.”

Pulling out of Jesse’s grip, I step forward, letting my power pool in my hands. If these witches want a fight, they’ve got one.

“Holy shit,” one of the men says, taking a quick step back.

The others follow suit, showing their first signs of fear as they stare at me with wide eyes.

“It can’t be,” the woman who appears to be their leader breathes.

“It can, and it is,” I say, letting the power seep out of me before crossing my arms over my chest. “Now, who are you, and what do you want from us?”

“We’re Windmere, and we come with a warning.”
