He rolls his eyes. “I’ve turned to the bottle, so that should answer your question.”

Priest has been necking a little more whiskey these days. After being grazed by the bullet, he was lucky the damn thing didn’t do more damage. Still, he’s milking it for all it’s worth.

I chuckle. “Don’t tell me your still abstainin’?”

He takes another sip. “Sweet butts testin’ a man’s patience, that much I’ll say.”

I shake my head. “I don’t know why you do it to yourself.”

“That’s because you have a beautiful woman in your bed every night. Trust me, if I had that, I’d be worshippin’ her too. Until then…”

“So you’re not abstainin’ for good? Just until the right woman comes along?”

“Somethin’ like that.”

“You sure you didn’t get hit in the head?”

“Nope. I remember havin’ this conversation before I got shot.”

“Least we can compare scars now,” I say as he sighs.

“Mine’s always gonna be bigger than yours, Rock,” he says, patting me on the shoulder. “At least, that’s what I’ve been told.”

I grin as the clubhouse doors open and Manny, Luna, and Aspyn walk in.

Ever since that night when Tara was shot and arrested, things between us have been calm and almost blissful. We’ve been enjoying each other's company. Learning about one another. Talking.

So much about both our pasts has had me in a trigger hold and now all of that is gone. Having Salerno finally rid off the face of the earth has brought me a lot of peace and clarity.

I was holding on to so much resentment that I’d long since buried.

I’ll never be able to thank Cash enough for doing what he did. For taking the lead, like a true father figure and protector.

“Hello, Trouble,” I say when my girl slides onto my lap and reaches her arms around my neck.

“Hello, sexy.”

Priest groans next to me. “You two need to go get a room.”

“Nah, we’ve got my desk in the back,” I say. “I’d recommend sanitizin’ it if you plan on usin’ it for work purposes.”

He groans again. “Fuckin’ coupla horny adolescents,” he mutters under his breath.

Aspyn slaps me playfully on the arm as our lips meet. “Where have you been?” I ask.

She rubs her nose against mine. “As if you don’t know.”

I smile. She knows me too well.

“I don’t need a tracker to know you’re either at the coffee shop, the salon, or buyin’ more blankets we don’t need in Target.”

She pouts. “But those blankets are for snuggle time.”

“I think we need to go and snuggle right now,” I coax, waggling my eyebrows.

“I think I just threw up a little,” Priest complains.

I slap his back, not the side where he was hurt. “Don’t worry about him, his dick hasn’t been wet for a while. He’s just bein’ grumpy.”
