His lips quirked up at the corners. “I have chickens, pigs, a couple of cows, horses?—”

My eyes widened, excitement thrumming through my veins. “You really have those animals?”

He chuckled and nodded. “I do. Would you like to help me with them?”

I eagerly nodded my head. I’d never seen any of those animals up close before, and I was practically vibrating with anticipation at the thought of being able to see them close up. Maybe even touch some of them. Would Ricardo let me touch them?

Tango tapped my plate with his fork, making a loud clank. I jumped in surprise, turning to look at him. “Eat. Shower. Then, you can go have fun outside.”

I quickly dug back into my food, tuning out Ricardo and Tango as they talked, catching up on what had happened in their lives since they last wrote letters to each other. At some point, Tango placed his hand on my thigh, applying the tiniest bit of pressure, and I did my best to hide my smile.

I never wanted this man to stop touching me.

I ran my hand over the chicken that Ricardo was holding in his arms. Tango was standing beside me, his arms crossed over his barrel chest, a small smile playing on his lips as he watched me.

“It’s so soft,” I breathed. “And calm.” I’d always thought chickens were wild and a bit mean. I was so happy to be proven wrong.

Ricardo nodded in agreement. “They are, for the most part. The rooster is the only one you need to worry about. Don’t go in there unless I’m with you. He may attack you, and I really don’t want Tango beating the shit out of me if you get hurt.”

I looked up at Tango, dropping my hand back to my side so Ricardo could put the chicken back into its coop. My man simply arched a brow at me.

“You wouldn’t really do that, would you?” I whispered.

He only shrugged. “Not much I won’t do if you get hurt, baby,” he reminded me. “Keep that in mind. Make sure you follow the rules in place. They’re there to keep you safe and to keep my temper on a leash.”

I flushed, my cock hardening in the sweats I had on. Thankfully, the jacket I was wearing—one of Ricardo’s spares—was big enough to hide what was happening. But the look on Tango’s face told me he was already aware and didn’t even have to see it for himself.

My cheeks darkened even more. What gave me away? How did he know?

Tango uncrossed his arms and then lifted his finger, trailing it over the pulse in my neck. I swallowed thickly, my Adam’s apple bobbing in my throat. Guessed that was what gave me away. I couldn’t help that Tango was always making my heart race.

Thunder suddenly rolled overhead. I looked up at the overcast sky. It’d been gloomy all day, and while Ricardo had mentioned that a storm was predicted to roll through, it wasn’t supposed to be until later.

“You two go on in,” Ricardo said, jerking his chin in the direction of his cabin. “Shower. I’ll finish up out here and start dinner.”

“Sure you don’t need help?” Tango asked, already reaching down for my hand. I slid my fingers through his, loving the way his hand enveloped mine. My hand was a bit smaller, my fingers thinner than his. Every part of this man easily dwarfed me, and I couldn’t get enough of it.

Ricardo shook his head. “Nah. It’ll go faster if I don’t have to explain things as I go.” I winced, but Tango didn’t take offense to it—merely nodded his head in understanding. Then, he began walking back toward the cabin, gently tugging me along behind him.

When we stepped into the house, I worked on toeing out of my boots. By the time I managed to get them off my feet, Tango was already down to his jeans and t-shirt. He began helping me out of the jacket I’d borrowed, hanging it up for me while I slid off my gloves and tugged off my hat.

“Bathroom,” Tango rumbled. “I’ll be there in a minute.”

My heart skipped a beat, my cock hardening. I licked my lips. “You’re joining me?” I croaked, my voice strangled.

He smirked at me. “That going to be a problem?”

I quickly shook my head and then made my way down the hall, my heart racing in my chest. When I got in the bathroom, I immediately started the shower and then stripped out of my clothes. Trying not to think too hard about Tango being in the shower with me—what he might do to me—I stepped under the spray of water and leaned my head back, letting the hot water spray over my face, soak my hair, and run down my tired body.

I sucked in a sharp breath of air when the bathroom door opened and clicked back closed. My fingers trembled as I reached up to push my dripping curls back from my face, slicking them back over my scalp. My cock jumped when I heard Tango’s shirt hit the floor, and my heart lurched into my throat when I heard his pants follow.

The shower curtain slid back, and then Tango stepped into the shower, his heavily muscled body on full display. All his tattoos stood out in stark contrast to his skin, the light dusting of hair on his chest making my fingers twitch with the urge to touch it. Run my fingers through it to see if it was as soft as it looked.

“Come here,” Tango growled.

I stepped forward immediately—without a beat of hesitation. Whatever he commanded, I followed. It was instinct. I thrived when I was obeying him. When I didn’t have to think. Only do. Only feel.

Tango gripped the back of my neck and lowered his head until his face was hovering right over mine, our lips a mere hairsbreadth away from touching. My heart was going crazy in my chest.
