“Sorry, princess, but you just put the thought of us sleeping together in my head, and it’s time for me to make good on my promise. I promised to worship your body, and I’ve been lacking on that front.”

With that, we walk off the patio and head toward the house.

CHAPTER THIRTY

Sally

I have never been on a boat before. Oliver and I were too young as kids to steal the family boat. Hell, when he showed it to me, I was genuinely surprised.

The boat doesn’t hold a lot of warm memories of Oliver’s childhood, so I don’t blame him for never using it.

But then I off-handedly mentioned how I’d never been on one before. He started to gather his things and said we were going on an adventure today.

Suspiciously, he gathered way more than we would need for a quick ride on the waves.

The wind whips against my skin, and the freshwater smell fills my nostrils with each breath. A giddy sort of feeling claws at my very core, wanting to burst at the seams.

I love being on the water. The speed and rocking as waves crash against the boat. It feels dangerous with each jump, but there’s no anxiety. No anxiety because Oliver is behind the wheel, or maybe it’s just because if I were flung overboard, it wouldn’t upset me. The thrill might even make my stomach flip with more giddiness.

I look back at Oliver as we sail. His shirt is fully unbuttoned, exposing his broad chest, a little spray of sweat from the sun glistening on his skin. The wind blows through the stray wisps at the base of his neck. The rest of his hair is contained in a backwards baseball cap. Sunglasses-covered eyes lock with mine, and we stare for a second before a smirk plays on his lips.

“Finally get bored with the lake, princess?”

“I don’t know if I’ll ever get bored of this,” I say honestly before taking a seat.

Oliver slows the boat down to the point that it’s just rocking with the waves around us. We can still see land from out here, but it mostly looks like tall grass standing up in the marsh water and the beaches around Alliance.

I hear Oliver mess with something around the boat before he sits down next to me and hands a Sprite can over to me. I must look puzzled because he adds, “Ella told me what snacks you like. We have some jalapeño chips in the back, but the rest are for later.”

I take a swallow of the soda, taking in the burn from the carbonation, just like the burn from his actions. He packed my favorite snacks just because he wanted to. Is that why he took so much longer to get ready?

“What’s happening later?”

“Like I’d tell you that.” You can’t blame a girl for trying. “That’s, like, the number one rule of the dating handbook.”

I swallow, a lump forming in my throat. “So, this is a date, then?”

“Of course, it’s a date, babe.” Oliver pauses like he’s weighing his next words carefully. “I know we promised to not continue this after the summer, but until you drive out of Alliance, I’m going to treat you like my girlfriend.”

My breath becomes shallow because, deep down, that’s exactly what I need to hear.

His hand reaches out and touches my bare thigh. “Did I lose you, princess?” Warm breath hits my cheek, and then the realization hits that we’re touching.

When did he get so close to me?

My voice comes out barely above a whisper. “I’m here.”

His hand glides up and down my skin. Each stroke of his fingers rolls through my stomach and steals my breath away.

Oliver’s voice comes out strained. “Sal, you can’t do that, or I’m…”

“Do what?” I say teasingly as my hands reach out for him. His cock jumps to life as I trace him with my finger. “This?”

“Is that the game we are going to play, princess?” Oliver’s eyes storm with desire.

Before I can answer, his hand that was on my thigh travels up to my breast and delivers a mind-melting stroke around the tip. Instantly, my nipples harden at the sudden attention.

I had no plans to jump in the water, so all I wore was a thin white button-up shirt. So thin that my breasts are ready to cut through the fabric.
