‘Aren’t you even going to attempt to explain yourself?’ Harrison said, his voice booming across the room. ‘Answer me!’

‘But… I… it… I…,’ Benji said, all the while still typing on his phone and even holding the iPad up to take a selfie. ‘I can exp-’

‘No! Enough! You’ve quite clearly gone against every damn rule we’ve agreed upon,’ Harrison roared. ‘And for all I know, you’ve been doing this the whole time! Is this what you do? Wait until I’m safely out of the way before going behind my back and carrying on with all the social media crap that got you all strung out?’

Benji looked tearful, but he still wouldn’t stop touching his phone.

‘Get to your fucking room!’ Harrison bellowed, this time the severity in his voice prompting Benji to spring to his feet and run at a hundred miles per hour to the safety of his bedroom. ‘Bring me back that phone! Now!’

But Benji didn’t stop to give his phone back.

Instead, Harrison heard Benji slam the bedroom door and click the lock.

That disobedient, bratty little boy…

This was the last fucking thing I needed.

What the hell am I meant to do now?

Harrison was livid. After going through the terrible meeting with Dean Hoffman, the last thing that Harrison had anticipated was coming home and finding Benji like some zombie on his phone, manically typing comments and doing the exact thing that made him so unhappy before.

‘Breathe. Take a moment. Don’t make things worse,’ Harrison said to himself, trying his best to calm down. ‘The boy can wait. But right now it’s time to burn some of this anger off.’

Without further ado, Harrison changed out of his clothes and got into his running gear. It wasn’t going to make his problems go away, but a hard and fast 5KM run would sure as hell help clear his head.

Harrison would run and run hard.

And then on his return home he would sit down with Benji and find out exactly what was going on. Well, that was the plan anyhow…

Chapter 17

BENJI

Benji flung himself onto his bed and buried his face in the pillow. Benji simply couldn’t believe how uncaring and over the top Harrison’s reaction was – he hadn’t even given Benji a real chance to explain himself.

Suddenly, Benji was wondering whether Harrison was the man – or Daddy – that he had previously shown himself to be. But Benji didn’t have time to wallow in his upset, not matter how sad he felt.

Every second that Benji wasn’t online and trying to sort this whole mess out was a wasted moment. In fact, Benji couldn’t quite believe that Harrison didn’t understand this himself. Sure, Harrison was older. But that didn’t mean that he had no concept of how online culture worked for influencers and content creators.

‘Zozo! Why was Daddy so mean to me?’ Benji sobbed, sitting up on his bed and bringing his stuffie in close for a snuggle. ‘You should have seen how angry he looked. It was like he just didn’t care about how upset I was!’

Benji’s eyes were streaming, and his cheeks felt flush with a growing sense of anger too. Not only had Harrison not given him a chance to explain, but Harrison had also seemed on the verge of losing his cool in a way that was borderline scary for Benji.

I’m not the one who needs to apologize.

Harrison does!

If he wants to be my Daddy, he has to respect me!

Benji could feel himself getting angrier and angrier. But with each second that passed, his phone kept lighting up with more and more notifications. Whether it was people replying to his comments or new followers leaving mean comments, it suddenly felt very overwhelming.

Benji was seething about Harrison’s suggestion that he had been online the whole time too. That was simply not fair and made Benji question Harrison’s feelings for him.

‘If he really loved me, he would never accuse me of lying like that,’ Benji muttered, frantically typing out a response to another cruel troll. ‘A true Daddy would trust his Little. Urgh. I hate this!’

Then, with his fingers trembling as he typed, Benji picked up his phone and sent a message to Tucker…

You were right. I was silly and stupid and dumb for leaving the city and messing everything up online. My fans deserve better and I’m going to come back on the train today. Please will you help me fix this, Tucker? Benji
