By the time we reach the house, Mikey is already sluggish and less talkative. His hours in daycare are good for him mentally and physically. He sleeps sound and wakes up refreshed in the morning which ultimately, is good for me too. I leave Mikey with Sarah in the living room while I go get ready for my date.

I slip into a little black dress with elegant pumps and skin-color stockings, a lacy black bra and matching panties, complete with a sexy garter belt and straps. I finish applying my make-up in natural hues with just a bit of black eyeliner and mascara, making my eyes pop. I dare say it was all worth the effort. I like the woman I see in the mirror.

In fact, I’m liking her more and more these days. Whether it’s the clean air, the new job, or simply being away from Derrick, it’s doing wonders for my skin and my overall complexion. I look brighter, glowing almost. My smile seems more genuine, happier. I’ve got color in my cheeks that wasn’t there before.

Or perhaps it’s because I’m about to go on a date with three hot men who plan on taking me in every which way. I’m hoping so much that it happens tonight. Mere days ago, I was wrestling with the guilt of the social stigma that usually comes with such arrangements, but now, I’m excited.

Once I kiss Mikey goodnight and leave him with Sarah, I give myself one last look in the mirror, then grab my clutch and head out.

Kace is already waiting outside, clad in a dark green suit that perfectly outlines his tall and muscular frame. The black shirt beneath has a couple of loose buttons at the top, giving me a glimpse of those rippling pecs and his smooth, tanned skin.

My lips tingle. I can’t wait to kiss that part of him along with everywhere else.

“Damn, you look stunning,” Kace says, his blue eyes sparkling with admiration.

I let my hair loose for the evening, a cascade of black curls tumbling down my back. My cheeks burn under his gaze as I offer a shy smile. “Thank you. You look quite dashing, as well. Green suits you,” I say.

“Finn and Elias are at the gate,” he replies, then offers me his arm. “Allow me.”

“Oh, ever the gentleman.”

“I do the best with what I was given.”

We both chuckle as we follow the stone path away from the residential area of the estate. The sun is beginning it’s descent, a pink and purple sky stretching above us while the leaves of the sequoia giants tremble in the night, rustling like lost whispers.

I find that I’m at peace whenever I’m around Kace—he has a way of soothing my senses with just his presence. His self-confidence feeds into mine, and I can’t help but appreciate the emotional security that he gives me.

I like how we’re able to simply be around one another and not have to say anything at all. We’re comfortable in one another’s silent presence, and that’s all it takes for the softness in my chest to spread and fill me with much needed peace. He rests his hand on the small of my back as we walk along the main alley leading to the gates, where a silver Lexus awaits. My skin comes alive with his touch.

“I booked us a private table at a winery in Napa,” Kace says. “You’ll love it.”

“A private table?” I ask.

“Yes, it will be just the four of us and the staff service for the entire evening. We will be in the private dining room.”

I giggle and lean into him, surprised by how soft and mushy this man makes me feel. “I wouldn’t expect you to do anything less.”

“Oh, wow,” Finn says as he and Elias get out of the Lexus to greet me. “What a sight for sore eyes you are.”

I could say the same thing. Finn looks ridiculously handsome in his navy-blue suit, paired with a white shirt and a classy watch.

Elias strikes me as the mysterious heartthrob type, dressed in black from head to toe and sporting a spicy cologne that instantly arouses my senses. Kace gently guides me over to them, and I feel as if I’m walking on clouds.

“It’s a pleasure to have your company tonight,” Elias tells me. “I reckon we’re the luckiest men in northern California.”

“Isn’t it a little too early for that kind of flattery?” I chuckle.

“Oh, we haven’t even started on the flattery yet,” Elias says, half-smiling. “Otherwise, I’d tell you that I look forward to peeling that dress off your gorgeous body later.”

“Yeah, let’s save that for after the first bottle of wine,” Finn cuts in and plants a soft kiss on my cheek.

I’m about to get in the back of a Lexus with three ex-Navy SEALs who look at me like I’m precisely what they want for dinner. No wonder my panties are already wet. It’s going to be a long night, the best kind.

The restaurant is called Elixir, located on a Napa Valley winery and hospitality resort. The building is designed in a Spanish hacienda style, with bold red walls and generous white marble archways, while the windows are broad and tastefully cluttered with potted flowers. Beyond the restaurant and its top-floor residential suites, a beautiful vineyard unfolds against the evening sky and California’s rolling hills. I love this part of the country so much, I don’t see myself ever living anywhere else.

We’re treated to a spectacular three-course meal inside the restaurant’s private dining room, away from the sounds and sights of the customers enjoying themselves in the main hall. Latino jazz music plays in the background as a waiter opens a second bottle of wine to pair with our second course.

“I’ve selected a fabulous Californian pinot noir for this particular meal,” the waiter says as he pulls the cork out with one, swift move.
