“Nothing she does surprises me.” Ethan chuckles, slipping on a pair of sunglasses and tapping his fingers on the steering wheel, clearly excited about seeing his friends and family again. He did all of this for his pack. I love the Steel pack, but I grew up elsewhere, only moving there to take up my role on Blake’s team. I don’t have the same deep connections that Ethan does.

“Tell me about the brewery.” Sitting back, I listen intently as Ethan talks about the brewery and bar he started with Cooper. Now that Cooper’s taken over the pack, it’s really his baby to run, along with his normal beta duties.

“But John has been taking care of things while I’ve been gone. I’m sure he’s doing a great job and would be happy to keep managing it if we move away.” He smiles brightly, and I grin at him. Look at him pretending he’s totally fine with leaving everything behind to go wherever I want.

“Hmm. I was thinking maybe you could work in the kitchens, I think Blake is looking for someone.”

Nodding along, Ethan smiles and squeezes my knee. “Sure, that sounds great. We’ll have a chat when we see him.”

That does it. “Stop being so nice. You’re not working in a kitchen. You’re a beta for crying out loud, and you deserve to get your old job back. They all miss you way too much. I’m not taking you away from them after all they’ve been through already.”

Ethan looks at me quickly, uncertain, before returning his eyes to the road.

“But what about you… I…”

Waving away his concern, I smile reassuringly at him. “I’m fine, but it’s sexy as hell that you were willing to give it all up for me. You’re quite a catch.”

His brows press together when he sees me twisting in my seat. “What are you doing?”

“Giving you your prize for being the best mate in the world.” When my hand drops to his crotch, he shifts in his seat, groaning but also opening his legs wider for me.

“Belle, I don’t know…” His protests are weak and I know he’s just as turned on as I am. His wolf flashes in his eyes as I rub him hard and trail my fingers along his waistband and over his happy trail.

“Shh. Let me have my fun,” I whisper as I flick open his fly and lean down, my lips pressing around the head of his hard cock the moment I free him from his boxers.

“I get to move home with my mate, and am rewarded for it. This is a fucking dream.”

It doesn’t take long for Ethan to enthusiastically enjoy my present. He bucks his hips up into my mouth as I suck him deep, swirling my tongue around the head of his thick cock and humming in approval when he wraps my hair in his fist.

When he comes, his hot cum shooting down the back of my throat, I purr, licking him clean and tucking him away.

“Holy, shit. No wonder Cooper gets no work done when Hayley’s around.”

Laughing, I sit back and relax, taking in the sights as we pull into Grey Ridge, my new home. A sense of calm washes over me. This feels right. Even though I only met a few of the residents the last time I was here, I’m pretty sure if Ethan loves them, I’ll love them too.

Passing through an open set of wrought iron gates, I sit forward, drinking in the stunning scenery, hills rising majestically in the background. When the packhouse comes into view, I can’t believe how incredible it is. Looking like a luxurious lodge rather than a packhouse, it’s homely and cosy: screaming log fires, blankets, and hot chocolate. I love it.

As we park, Ethan swivels in his seat to face me, and I can feel his nervousness.

“I quit my job, Belle. I’m not the beta anymore, technically Rex is. What if I can’t get my job back?”

It’s clear he loved working with Cooper. He regularly speaks of him and Hayley, and it sounds like Cooper relies heavily on him, too. Maybe he won’t be beta, but, surely, he’ll be able to do something for the Joneses.

“Then we better make that brewery work,” I say simply. “Or we’ll figure something else out. I don’t care about any of that, Ethan. I just want you to be happy.”

Straightening his shoulders, Ethan climbs out, coming around to open my door, he grabs our bags out of the back. We haven’t even made it to the front door when Rex strides out to meet us. He merely nods at me, claps Ethan on the shoulder, and snatches his car keys out of Ethan’s hand.

“Welcome back. I don’t know how you do it, but I’m fucking out of here. I’ll be at the bed and breakfast if you need me, but unless this place is literally burning to the ground, don’t call me.” He gets two steps past us and pauses, sighing, “Leah says welcome to the pack, Belle, and she wants you to come for dinner tomorrow.”

Without waiting for an answer, he’s gone, jumping into his truck and disappearing out of the car park as fast as he can. Turning to face Ethan, I stare at him in confusion. “Does that mean…?”

We walk inside the packhouse, which is eerily quiet, and Ethan looks around. Dropping our bags at the foot of the stairs, we follow our noses out the rear doors and onto the patio outside. The second we cross the threshold, a loud cheer erupts, and we are swarmed by well-wishers.

Hayley pulls me into a massive hug, tears running down her cheeks. I’ve met her a few times with Zoe, but normally, she’s calm and in control. Not today.

“Congratulations! Ethan’s a lucky man. I’m sorry I’m such a mess. I’m so hormonal. And tired. This isn’t very Luna-like.” She flushes, embarrassed by her display of emotions and laughing at herself. “Please tell me you’re staying? We’ll be so nice, and you can live wherever you want. We just need him. Cooper’s miserable… and Rex… ”

Hayley continues to ramble on but Cooper Jones, aware of his mate’s overwrought state, makes his way closer, his gaze locking on mine the minute Hayley mentions staying.
