“Fine then, I’ll move.” Turning to the side, I meet Hannah’s gaze and plead with her to help me get away from Chase. She stands, looking completely lost as to where to go, then bolts for the safety of the bar. Sitting down opposite her date, I give him my most flirtatious smile. The poor guy looks petrified. Chase immediately stands, shoving him off the chair and ignoring him as he scrambles to his feet. I scowl at Chase’s smug face.

“I can do this all night, Natalie.”

Silence hangs heavy in the air, and, for a brief moment, I think maybe he’s run out of steam.

“I don’t want to talk to you, Chase. You’re just using me to get information, and it’s not going to happen.”

He blinks at me, and, for a moment, I think common sense will prevail and he’ll leave. But, oh no. Not Chase Walker.

“Tough,” he snarls, those strange silvery eyes locked on mine.

What? That doesn’t make sense.

“It’s my turn, and we’re going to have our five minutes of getting-to-know-you time. Right fucking now.”

This man is insane. When he grabs the table and sweeps it to the side, I know I’ve pushed him too far. The wooden legs screech across the floor as he shoves it away and shifters scramble to move back. He’s like a bomb about to explode. His t-shirt pulls taut against his chest as he breathes heavily and the muscles in his arms bulge as his fingers twitch at his sides. Uh, oh.

“Don’t you dare,” I warn, turning to run, but he lunges for me. I barely make it three steps and his arms band around my waist, and he tosses me up over his shoulder.

“Put me down. Damn you, Chase. You can’t do this!” He grips my thighs to hold me in place as I kick his stomach, hitting his rock-solid back with my fists. With a loud smack, he slaps my ass to get me to stop thrashing.

“Yes, I can. You’re fucking mine,” he growls, repositioning me as he places a palm flat against the rear exit door and shoves it wide open.

Billy comes rushing around, ready to tackle Chase before he can leave. As much pleasure as I get from winding Chase up, I need to calm him down before this gets out of hand. Billy trying to take me from him is only going to escalate this mess.

“No.” I hold a hand up and Billy skids to a stop, looking completely torn. “It’s okay, I promise.”

“Nat, for fucks sake, this is not okay” Billy groans, hands on his head as he watches Chase carry me through the door. “Chase, put her down.”

For a moment, I think Chase is going to comply as his steps falter, but then he whispers: “I can’t.” He sounds almost regretful. Momentarily stunned at what he just said, Billy pauses and Chase continues. “Billy, me and your sister are just going to have a very long, overdue conversation. Cinderella here will be home before midnight.”

CHAPTER 25

CHASE

Storming around the corner, I drop Natalie to her feet against the back wall of the bar, away from prying eyes. Not that they didn’t see and hear enough already.

“What is wrong with you?!” Natalie shouts, hands thrown up in the air as she stares at me in disbelief.

“I don’t know.”

That’s the truth. In keeping with the theme of the evening, which seems to be pure chaos, I grip her face in my hands and kiss her. Kiss her hard, like I’ve wanted to since the first time I met her, and she gave me a taste of her attitude.

For a second, I worry she’s not going to respond, but then she gives in, moaning in frustration as she hops up and wraps her legs around my waist, letting me press her into the wall.

All rational thought left my brain the moment I saw the sign outside that read “speed-dating” and spotted Natalie happily sitting among the rows of single women, trying to score herself a hot date. Growling at the thought, I kiss her harder, using my weight to hold her in place as my hands roam all over her body, stroking and massaging like a man possessed.

“I have no idea what I’m doing,” I admit, whispering against her ear then sucking her neck, and nipping at her delicate skin. She shudders against me, and I rock my hips, letting her feel just how much she’s affecting me.

“Just shut up, and kiss me,” she demands, pulling my mouth back to hers and taking control.

“You drive me crazy. And you locked me in a fucking shed, Natalie!” Softening my tone again, “But I came here to apologise, I really did.”

She’s nodding, but she’s not agreeing with what I’m saying, she’s agreeing with the wandering path my hands are taking up under her top to cup her heavy breasts. Brushing my thumbs over her stiff peaks, I groan, pumping my hips and loving how she cries out softly, my cock lining up just right to tease her through her jeans.

“You’re all I can think about. Every second of every fucking day.” Gripping her chin when she tries to look away, I plead with her to understand. “I’m not normally like this. I might be a dick sometimes, but, with you, it’s like this whole other person takes over the second I get near you.”

Clenching my fists to get rid of some of the adrenaline swirling through me, I pause, giving her a chance to tell me to back-off. Instead, her trembling fingers reach up and tangle in the front of my shirt. She lifts it up and slides her warm palms against the skin of my stomach, exploring my clenched abs and biting her lip as she slips her hands around my waist and up my back.
