I look at Callie, whose lips are curved up with happiness. Her eyes light up when they meet mine. “I want to hold him too, so hurry up.”

Christine passes him to me and I hold the back of his head, just like I saw on the YouTube videos I watched. When he’s lying against my chest, my heart feels like it might burst from loving him. His tiny heart beats next to mine, and he moves in his sleep. He’s so trusting and small, and I’ve never been so overwhelmed in my life.

“How does it feel?” Callie asks.

I look at her and let the love I feel for her shine through my eyes. “Let’s have a hundred,” I say, and she bursts out laughing.

“Did you mean what you said earlier about having kids?” Callie asks while she gets ready for bed later.

“Hmm?” I look up from the book I’m reading. It’s a spy thriller. I’m making my way through this author’s backlist and enjoying every second. I look up to see Callie doing her skincare routine in nothing but one of my T-shirts. I drop the book immediately. I can get her to stop the nighttime routine, if I just can lure her closer. My success rate at distracting her into having sex with me hovers around ninety-five percent. Ninety-seven percent if I’m not wearing a shirt when I go to bed.

“Kids,” she repeats. “Do you want a hundred?”

“With you?” I meet her eyes, and I’ve never felt surer of anything in my life. “Yes.”

She clambers on to my lap, smiling at me like I’m her favorite person in the world. “I love you, Jonah Crown.”

“I love you,” I repeat, as I bring her head down for a kiss. She tastes minty from her toothpaste, but under it she’s delicious and so Callie. “I want to keep you in my bed for a year,” I murmur.

She swats at my hands where they’re slipping under the hem of her shirt. “Don’t you think you’re doing things out of order?”

I bite gently at her neck, then lick over the spot. “What do you mean?”

“You’re already talking babies, but there’s so much more before that.” Her voice comes out breathy. I love getting to her.

“Move in with me, Cal. Marry me. I need you with me forever.” I cup her face with my hand as her eyes widen.

“Don’t you think this is going too fast?”

“Do you?” I raise a brow.

“No.” She bites her lip. “It feels right.”

When she kisses me, everything settles in to place.

EPILOGUE

Callie

6 months later…

A knock sounds on my office door. My very new office door that opens into a light-filled office full of plants.

Before I can answer, Jonah pushes into the space.

“Barging in with no warning?” I smile at him.

“Seeing as I own this building, yes,” he drawls. He’s so handsome, in a sharply masculine way that still makes my stomach feel weird when I see him for the first time after hours away. Like right now, when he’s looking at me like he wants to bend me over the desk. Which he’s done many, many times. Owner of the building and all that.

“Want to walk home?” He shoves his hands in his suit pockets. He’s a little rumpled from a long day. His sharp jaw is shadowed with stubble, his hair is escaping from the confines of its gel. His tie is peeking out from his pocket, and his shirt is unbuttoned.

“I still have to work on the final article for Friday.” My eyes flick to the computer, where my half-written draft stares at me accusingly.

“Can’t be all work and no play,” Jonah responds.
