I can’t wait until tomorrow night when Sophie becomes my wife, and I can finally have her in all the ways I’ve been fantasizing about for months, ever since I saw her photos for the first time. Knowing that she’s likely terrified of being alone in a bedroom with me, much-less naked and at my mercy, only turns me on even more.
Unfortunately, there’s a very real chance that she could change her mind, come to her senses, and refuse to walk down the aisle tomorrow on the rooftop gazebo.
Sophie agreed with my choice of the outdoor ceremony on the second-story balcony of the local chapel with no more than thirty guests for the ceremony. The fewer people there is the less likely another unfortunate incident will occur. God knows Dante and I both have countless enemies for a public event like this. I hope he’s as prepared as I am.
Before I could ask him about it at our dinner, though, Flynn knocked over his glass of champagne all over Cass who of course had a conniption. I got my brother out of there before he could fuck things up even more.
Instead of taking me home, though, Owen insisted they had a surprise for me.
I never enjoy their surprises, so I knew I wouldn’t like this one either.
Taking me to a bachelor party held at one of my brothels was the last place I wanted to be tonight.
If Dante finds out I fucked around on his daughter the night before the wedding, he would probably castrate me. That’s why I head outside with a cherry cigar in my mouth and my guards following behind to call him up even though it’s nearly midnight to coordinate our security protocols.
“Lochlan,” Dante answers after the first ring, as if he was holding his phone, expecting a call. “What can I do for you at this hour? Have you come to your senses, and changed your mind?”
“No. I just wanted to make sure all bases are covered for the balcony tomorrow. I’m going to have a few of my guards lurking in nearby building windows, so tell yours not to shoot them. I’ll make sure they all wear a white Bowen knot patch on their chests.” Everyone, including Dante, knows that the Celtic symbol of love and loyalty is mine alone in this city.
“Fine,” Dante replies. “Even though I’ll have my own snipers keeping an eye on things.”
“You can never have enough security,” I mutter.
“No, you can’t,” he agrees since we both nearly died in the casino bombing.
“How will my guards be able to tell your men from potential enemies?” I ask.
“Vanessa has dressed the whole security team in black suits with gold ties so even they will match the theme. My wife is always thinking ahead.”
“Good. I’ll inform my men.”
“Is there anything else you wanted?” Dante asks tersely.
“I suppose it’s too much to ask to speak to my bride?”
“Yes, it is, but…” he trails off, leaving me hanging.
“But what?” I snap.
“But Sophie’s not here anyway.”
“What? It’s almost midnight. Where the fuck is she?”
Dante’s heavy sigh tells me I’m not going to like the answer. “Cass said Sophie wanted a bachelorette party, so I let them go out tonight after dinner with Vanessa.”
“Out? Out where?” I demand. “Where is she, Dante?” I’m already gesturing to the guards to bring the car around.
“Where Sophie goes isn’t your concern until after tomorrow’s ceremony,” the asshole replies. “The wedding you rushed her into even though she’s still too young for this shit.”
He’s stalling, making me want to rip his head off. “Goddamm it, Dante, tell me where they fucking went!” When he doesn’t respond after several seconds, I lay into him. “If another man touches her, I swear to god, I’ll eventually find him, gut him, and make her watch the entire time.”
“She deserves one night of freedom before you take it from her. God knows I never gave her any either. Do you think I like the idea of my wife being out late with my daughters in some club?”
“Where. Is. She.” My teeth are clenched so tightly, I can barely speak.
“Sorry, Lochlan. I’m not supposed to interfere tonight, so neither can you.”
“Are you fucking kidding me?” I explode. “Do you really want Sophie fucking some stranger she just met tonight instead of me?”
