“You’re stuck with me. Your crazy matches mine, and I swear to fucking god you were made for me and me alone.” Noah kissed her fiercely, the grip on her hair tightening and keeping her captive against his imploring mouth. “For the last time, Alexis Rae,” his voice was raw and full of grit, the last tethers of his restraint snapping. “Marry me. I’m not asking you anymore. I’m telling you. As your boyfriend, as your dominant and as the man who you make whole. Fucking marry me, Lexi. I want to set the world on fire. You and me.”

“With my whole heart. Yes.”

Epilogue

How she’d gotten convinced into wearing white was a miracle. She boldly negotiated the dress for comfortable shoes.

Eyeing the pearl flats with a smile she knew it was a successful one. The gold bow and subtle stones complimented her still red hair; with plans on changing her color after their honeymoon. She’d seen five too many bridal disasters in her time.

“Hey, hey, Daddy coming through.”

She looked up at Nolan as he entered the room with Mia in toe. His smile was kind, joy reflected in his eyes and she shook her head, waving the emotion that bubbled to the surface.

“Hey.” Her vision shimmered and she exhaled a shaky breath, touching the delicate petals of the sweet pea flowers she held.

After everything she couldn’t see anyone else standing in for her dad.

“It’s my pleasure,” Nolan assured her, offering her his elbow. He placed a kiss on her temple. “Just call me Rent-A-Daddy.”

“Nuuuh mister. One time only.” Mia leaned up and kissed his cheek, turning toward her best friend with a smile. “You brought me my love, and now he is going to hand you off to your happy ending. Kinda full circle and all.”

Tears and emotion welled in the center of Lexi’s chest. Reaching for Mia’s hand in love and understanding the realization sank in that she was getting the one thing she never imagined.

A happy ending .

“Do you, Noah, take Ale—”

“Wait, please. I have something to say. I wrote something.” With skillful steady movements, Noah pulled a slip of paper from the inside pocket of his jacket and carefully unfolded it. It wasn’t too much bigger than a Post-it note and was filled with his unusually tiny artist's handwriting.

“ You are more and are worth more than the garbage life’s given you. I promise to show you every day for the rest of our lives that you are worthy of love. I will love you with every breath and every beat. You make me believe that even when we’re gone that my love for you will still exist and fuck Lexi. I hope to be worthy of yours every day for the rest of everything. I promise to be your safe place, the person you don’t need to hide or heal from. I will follow you until the ends of the earth to make sure you know you’re safe and loved. I promised you we’d set the world on fire together. I promise myself to you. I will choose you in every lifetime. Heart. Body. Soul. For always.”

She looked at him through watery eyes as he took her hand and brought it to his lips, kissing her knuckles with care.

“I. I didn’t write anything.” Lexi flustered, stomping her foot, a stray tear ran down her cheek and she struggled to choke back her emotions.

“I wasn’t letting you run!” Mia shouted tearfully from her corner of the tiny— intimate —room.

“Fine,” Lexi huffed, shaking the chains of her emotions and speaking from the heart. “Damnit, Noah, when we met, I was looking for a good time. I wasn’t looking for you .” She let out a laugh of relief, tears streaming down her face. “You hit me like a fucking bus. You ran me down and clobbered me. I was broken when I met you. You make me believe in myself so much and so hard it hurts. I never realized how lonely my soul was until you. You put pieces of me back together, and I…dammit. You've dealt with my ups and downs, you—.” Lexi paused and took a deep shaky breath, reigning herself in. “You see past everything and no matter where we were or what shit I tossed in our path. Never once did I ever doubt your love. You never wavered, you were determined, and I promise to be your sun in the rain as you've been mine “I love you, and I promise to show you every day exactly how much. I promise to know I am worthy of the love and life we share.”

“There’s nothing left to say,” Noah vowed, stepping toward Lexi and cupping her face. “You’re mine forever, McDonald.”

“It’s Hayes, jackass.” She gripped his suit jacket and kissed him soundly.

Lexi pulled Noah quietly down the hall to their suite. Her fingers laced tightly with his as they turned the corner. She spun and pressed herself against the wall a few feet from their door.

“I have been dying to get my hands on you.”

“Oh yeah?” She teased, pulling his tie loose until his tattoos peaked from the collar.

“Yeah, I want to brand every fucking inch of your skin in me.” He pulled Lexi onto her toes by her jaw. “You're mine forever, princess.”

“Fuck me so hard they call hotel security.” Lexi held up the card to their room, hoping Mia and Nolan had gotten to set her surprise for her new husband.

“I hope there's a tub to soak those muscles.”
