BLOCKED

“Ugh.” Thoroughly frustrated, she stuffed her phone into the passenger door.

“More applications?” Nolan asked.

“Yeah.” She glanced back at Zander who had headphones in. He was lost in his game and oblivious to their conversation. “I know members have to read a contract before joining the club. Why can’t someone take the time to read and understand limits? Limits!” There was a startling number of dominants who assumed all submissives were available for sexual acts during play. Not all scenes require physical intimacy.

They stopped at a red light, and he looked over at her. “You’ll tell me if a member takes things too far or makes you feel uncomfortable?” His gray eyes held brotherly affection and concern. “Okay?”

Melody nodded, picking at the invisible lint on her shorts. “I will. It’s nothing ‘no’ and the block button can’t handle.”

He cleared his throat.

“Yes, I promise I’ll tell you.” She looked over at him and smiled, thankful for the protective eye. “Not everyone has been regrettable. I’ve a meeting at the club with Master Isaiah tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed.”

It didn’t take long before Melody was glad Noah took her ad down from the tattoo shop. The inquiries she received from some club members were past the boundaries she’d put in place in the ad. She couldn’t imagine the unfiltered ones she could have gotten.

One person messaged wanting to purchase photos of her doing things she needed to look up. Who knew you could do that safely with a bowling pin? Although one message was looking for a Domme. Being someone’s Findom–financial dominant–was tempting at first. But at the heart of it all, that wasn’t her.

“You know if you want any extra time with Pen, her mother or I would never say no.”

Melody laughed. “That’s because your daughter is a ninja who has figured out that there’s a world to explore past her crib.”

“Every little sound has me looking at the monitor to see if her cute, stinky ass is in there.”

“You lucked out that she stopped escaping her crib once we turned the taller side out,” Melody reminded him. “Mia said you were negotiating for another.”

Nolan pulled into the park. “Call me a roulette master. We’ll spin the wheel and see what the universe brings.” He reached back and tapped Zander on the knee twice, pulling him from his game. “Let’s go, bud.”

While Nolan and Zander unloaded their bags, Melody gently pulled the car seat, careful not to disturb the car-lulled toddler while locking her into the stroller wheels. She pushed the door closed with her foot, looking up she saw Wes and Sarah heading toward the picnic area where Noah was already camped out. She hadn’t noticed his truck when they pulled up.

Zander grabbed the ends of his beach towel and ran to Wes and Sarah who pulled out snacks, floaties, and sunscreen.

“Are we going to the slides?” Zander hollered from his standing position on the empty picnic table, the breeze flipped the towel behind him. “I’m tall enough for the super twist!” With four loops and two upside down, it was bound to turn your stomach. That was too far out of her comfort zone and was more her friend, Julia’s, style.

“Friend!!” Sarah yelled, remembering Wes’ lesson of not letting strangers know your name. Sarah’s little feet kicked up gravel, running from their picnic table, and headed straight for Melody, her blonde ponytail flopped with her steps. She reached the edge of the park and stopped at the street line.

Jumping with her hands in the air she shouted. “No slides!”

Melody pressed her finger to her lips, signaling Penelope was sleeping.

Sarah clapped both hands over her mouth, her light blue eyes wide. She whispered through her fingers and pleaded with wide eyes. “Nooo, the swings!”

“The swings are always full!” Zander reminded her, failing to hide his exasperation.

Mel wheeled the stroller and sleeping toddler between the set-up tables. “Okay, guys, enough.” She stepped between Zander and Sarah. “We haven’t been here for even five minutes, guys. Lunch before play.” She picked up Sarah, her legs tight around her waist, and Mel bopped Zander on the nose with a smile. “There’s enough time to see everything.”

“But I’m too tall for the swings.”

“Yo! Zan!” Noah called out to him coming in from the parking lot with the last cooler. “Are you giving Ms. Melody a hard time?”

“No! I promise.” He folded the towel in half over his shoulders, looking over at Noah for rescue. “Can I go with you? Please.”

“You know how your mom feels about you going down the rapids.”
