“Me,” she whispered.

“Yes.” He ghosted his lips over hers, slow circles until she whimpered when he pulled away. “Now run up there and help Sarah while I clean up this mess.” He smirked as he looked down at his once black shirt.

“We may have made a little mess.” Melody pulled her bottom lip into her mouth, nippling on it.

“You sure did. I think I’ll have to do something about that later.” He winked as he pulled her from the counter placing a kiss on her forehead.

“I’ve been naughty, Daddy.” She smiled and turned on her heels to run up the stairs.

Wes chuckled, watching her leaving but knowing in his heart that she wasn’t going anywhere.

Melody checked the tub water as the bathroom slowly filled with steam. “Alright, missy. Clothes in the corner, we already left Papa with a messy kitchen.”

“Papa loves pissa!”

“Well we didn’t get to the pizza part.” Melody was thankful that she was able to dust most of the flour off of Sarah before she got into the tub. The bathroom slowly filled with steam.

“Mel Mel, is Mia gonna have another baby?”

“Maybe, it seems that's where they're going.”

“Where are they going? How?" Confusion marred her cute face.

“Well, bug, when two people love each other sometimes they can't contain it all. All that extra love gets turned into a baby.”

“Oh.” Sarah looked down at the bubbles in the tub, scooping them in her hands then dumping them back into the water.

“Sarah, what's wrong?” Mel knew that face. Sarah was a smart kid and knew that something else was on her mind.

“Nofin.”

“Hey now.” Mel booped her nose so that she would look at her. “Tell me, sweetie.”

“If that's what's uposed to happen…”

“It's just us, bug. You can talk to me.”

“Did my mom not love my Papa…” Mel’s heart ached for the child before her.

“I can't speak for that, Sarah, but I know Papa loves you more than anything. His love makes all things possible.”

“I loves him too." She looked up at Mel with little tears in her eyes.

“Sometimes Mama's can't stay.” Melody wrapped her in a towel and pulled her to her lap. “All families are built differently, but you know what?”

“What?”

“I love you and you can talk to me anytime you need to. I know what it’s like to not have a mother.” Losing your mom to cancer wasn’t the greatest conversation starter. It wasn’t something the friend group didn’t know about, but not something you dropped on little ones without warning.

“Really?” Sarah looked surprised.

“Yeah, my mama went to heaven when I was your age so it was just me and my dad. Just like you.”

“I didn’t know that, Melly,” she said as she slipped on her pajamas.

“Yeah, but guess what? You’re special because you have so many people that love you.” Sarah smiled up at her.

“I guess families are different.” She looked deep in thought for a moment. “Will you be part of my family?”
