“I think he was dumped so he’s begging me to come back. He just doesn't want to be alone. It’s tiring, Jules.”

“You’re not thinking about…” Julia winced as the words left her mouth.

“Hell no. Never in a million years. He made his decision.” Mel paused for a moment. “I’ve never been a ‘pick me girl’ but honestly? Sometimes it would be nice to be chosen. I’ve never been chosen first.” Her mind quietly reminded her of the moment she had with Wes when they were alone.

For every answered question, there were five more in the queue.

“Hey.” She squeezed Melody’s forearm. “You can’t let him get to you, he’s trying to pester you to…wait a minute.” Julia paused, pressing her lips together and her eyes widened. “Fuck, aren’t you and Wes…” It was only a matter of time before Julia had pieced it all together.

Mel’s cheeks flamed, the truth was written all over her face, it spoke more than words ever could. “It’s–”

“Oh boy. You’re fucked."

Anxiously, Mel tore at the cocktail napkin, letting the pieces fall into her forgotten drink. “Yeah, I mean I think? What the hell am I going to do? Wes is possessive.”

“You've no idea, bucko." Julia snickered, her eyes craning up to the mountain of a man approaching Melody from behind. She caught sight of his reflection behind Julia.

A thrill raced her spine.

“Ladies.” The cadence of his voice settled between her thighs irrevocably ruining the panties she wore.

His warm muscled arm wrapped around her middle. He caged her in, bringing his lips to her ear, his eyes glanced up toward Julia as he spoke. “Baby, you have been picked. You’re mine and I think it's time Jason realizes you're never coming back.”

“Wes,” Melody squeaked. She shivered in his arms, noting Julia’s quick retreat to memory as a marker for another time.

“Grab your phone, buttercup. Time to show that boy how a man treats his woman.”

Giving her no chance to reply, Wes grabbed her and tossed her over his shoulder with a wide grin on his face. His hand clamped down on her thigh, keeping her dress from flipping up, and holding her securely.

The muscles of his bicep rippled and she giggled over his shoulder. Grabbing his shirt, Melody halfheartedly kicked her feet. “The world is upside down!”

“Park my truck.” Wes’ tone was casual and Melody heard him toss his keys to Noah. “Oh, and text Zack that he needs a new bunny. This one’s mine.”

Wes emphasized his words squeezing a handful of her tender ass.

She grabbed onto his belt for leverage, holding herself steady and craning her head up just long enough to see Lexi and Julia high-five each other.

Melody’s face flamed and Wes’ grip on her thighs tightened, silently reassuring her she was secure.

“W-where are we going?”

“Told you already, buttercup. We’re about to have a very thorough lesson.”

Wes turned the corner and headed up the side spiral staircase to the private rooms. Unlocking the room, he pushed the door closed with his foot and with one fluid motion, he set Melody down at the edge of the bed.

Melody gripped his forearms and giggled. “Downside uppy ride, Daddy,” she whispered.

“Oh yeah?” He nodded, holding his hand out. “Pull his number and give me the phone.”

“What?” She swallowed nervously and pulled her phone from her pocket.

“I didn’t stutter, Melody. Call that little punk. I’m putting an end to this.”

She pulled his messages up on her phone.

“This is him?”

“Yes, Sir. Julia changed his name on my phone.” She’d blocked his calls, but texts still came through.
