“I also suggest you stick with Tobuary’s photographer and videographer,” Hanna says. “It’s too late to swap them out. And their DJ. And ideally their florist?”

“Who’s their florist?” I ask.

“I like to work with Big Blooms Floral—any issues with that?”

“I love her work!”

Hanna smiles. “You’re into flowers, huh?”

Shane’s watching me, his lips curving at the corners. “Have you seen her garden?”

His sister shakes her head.

“It’s fucking amazing,” he says, smiling at me. I recognize that smile, I realize. It’s the one he gave his romantic co-lead in Intention. It’s Shane’s “adoring” smile.

I like it way too much.

Hanna lights up. “We could talk about supplementing with your own flowers. Big Blooms will do that.”

“That would be awesome.”

Hanna looks back down at her list. “Cake,” she says. “You need to stick with Rush Creek Bakery—partly because of the time line and partly because you could not pay me enough to get on Nan’s bad side.”

I chuckle at that. I know Nan—everyone in town knows Nan, Rush Creek Bakery owner and the town’s resident gossip—and I totally sympathize with Hanna’s desire not to cross her. “That’s fine. Although I’m bummed I don’t get to do a cake tasting. To the extent I’ve ever fantasized about getting married, the two things I was excited about were flowers and cake.”

Hanna laughs. “Those are two good things. I can get you a meeting with the florist, definitely, and I’m pretty sure I can get Nan to let you do your own cake tasting, even on our short time line.”

“Sweet!” I say. “I have vivid, naughty fantasies involving Better Than Sex cake.”

Is it my imagination or does Shane make a choking sound? Is he laughing at me?

Hanna’s eyebrows are up as she looks at him.

“That’s fine,” Shane says, finally recovering his power of speech. “Cake tasting sounds good.”

“Two more things.” Hanna points at us. “You need to reach out to whoever you want to be in your wedding party and ask them to stand up for you. And you”—she points straight at me this time—“need to find a dress ASAP. I have a couple of people who can do rush alterations, but the dress itself has to be in stock.”

“I have a date with Sonya, Reggie, and my sister to do that this weekend,” I say.

“Good,” she says. “If anyone gives you shit about the short time line, call me. I’ll bust some balls.”

I snicker at that.

“She’s not joking.” Shane shakes his head. “I have been on the receiving end of Hanna’s anger, and it can definitely impair your ability to have children.”

“Also.” Hanna lays a hand flat on her desk. “Honeymoon. Get those plans on the books as soon as possible.”

“We will,” I say, not looking at Shane.

Of course, we’re not going to actually book a honeymoon.

Although maybe we have to? To make it look real?

Where would Shane Hott and Eva Scott go on their honeymoon?

To the highest point in the mountaintops?

To the edge of the universe?
