I’m frantically, almost manically,trying to get the
space in a good enough condition for Emma. I have to
make sure she is comfortable. I have to make sure she feels
safe but I know she doesn’t trust me. I can see it in her
eyes. If I was in her shoes I wouldn’t trust me either. She
doesn’t even have a reason to trust me.

As I’m still scrambling to get everything ready for Emma,
my phone rings.
“Vincent, where have you been,” Pops screams.
“I’ve had things to do. I’ve been busy!”
“Doing what, exactly? A couple of guys got away and we
need to make sure we get them! Asher convinced them to
be a part of their crew. He’s been giving me updates.”
“I know! We killed most of them but Ian and Joseph
got away.” “I think they knew we were coming but I’m not sure
how they knew. Also we need to make sure they don’t find
out about Asher. ”
“Did that girl see you? She could go to the cops! We
don’t need the cops on our ass, Vince!” I don’t reply to
him.
“Vince, what did you do,” Pops questions me,
darkly.
“I visited her in the hospital. I’m going to bring her home!
She’s mine.”
