“Oh… okay…” I say, trying not to seem terrified.
A cabin? In the middle of nowhere? But if I say no, what
is going to happen? Will he still force me to go? Will he

there? But if I don’t go, where will I stay?
“Baby girl, look at me,” he says as he strokes his thumb
across my cheek. “I know you’re scared and you probably
don’t trust me. Hell, why should you? Especially with all
the shit you’ve been through. But I promise I will not make
you do anything you don’t want to do.”
“How do I know you’re not lying?” I whisper, worrying
about his response.
“Because I keep my word. I will never lie to you. I
don’t need to lie to you. You will be in full control.” “Will you force me to have sex with you?”
“Of course not, baby girl. The only time we would do that
is when you want me too. But for now, until you want me
to touch you, I will only take care of you in a nonsexual
way, make sure you have everything you need and
everything you want.” He rubs my cheek one last time
before sitting in the chair next to my bed.
The way he says that makes a weight lift off my chest
slightly. He makes me feel safe. But I’m still scared to trust
