“How rough do you want it, Nora?” he asked, holding still.

“I want to remember every stroke tomorrow. Every time I move, I want to be sore from you.” I panted, grasping his arms tightly. It was all he needed to know. He rammed his hips against me. I opened my mouth to moan but no sound came out. I had my eyes clamped shut and I was pretty sure he had broken me.

“Open your eyes and watch me fuck you,” he demanded before moving again. My eyes flew open and he slammed into my core. Our eyes locked on one another and he drove back into me. I lifted my hips meeting his, increasing the force of his thrusts. “You’re mine, Nora. From this second on you’re mine forever. Understand?”

“Yes,” I panted, dragging my nails down his back, eliciting a groan from the man above me. I shook uncontrollably and arched my back as if I was a bridge over the rough ocean that swelled deep within me. He’d pleasured me in so many ways, but this was carnal, something we both needed, something to remember one another by.

He stopped and rolled me over on top of him. “It’s your turn to do the work. Ride me, baby.” His grin was intoxicating and I slowly started moving my hips. He moved his hand from my hip and whipped it quickly, connecting with my ass with a splintering slap. I gasped and put my hand over the spot he’d just made sting. “I said ride.” His eyes were wild with passion, and excitement. It was like I was frozen, I just sat there impaled on his shaft. “Do you need to be treated like a stubborn mare, baby?” He reached up and cupped my breasts, rolling my nipples between his fingers. I shook my head, unable to form words and moved faster, rising and falling on him. I rode him with wild abandon, my hands pressed on his legs, my body moving with a mind of its own.

I fought against coming but I cried out his name. He grabbed my hips and pressed deep into me and roared as he went rigid under me, shuttering after his release. With another spasm I collapsed and panted. My breathing was ragged and I could feel his heart beating against my chest.

“Wow,” I whispered as a shiver ran down my spine. He wrapped me up in his arms while he was still buried in me.

“I never knew it could be that intense.” My words were quiet. I’d had wonderful sex with Kipp, but this was two souls connecting, being one, nothing, and nobody mattered. “I can honestly say this is the best sex I’ve ever had.”

“I agree wholeheartedly.” He sighed. Silence hung in the air as we parted. We found our clothes without a word spoken. He pulled me to him and pressed his mouth against mine. His kiss was earth-shattering, and it set fire to my heart. I loved Kipp Miller, but I couldn’t tell him.

He let me go and unlocked the door. “So, what did you come down here for, not that I’m complaining?” Wrapping his arms around me, his hand was dangerously close to starting this all over again.

“Bella’s here,” I said so quietly I wasn’t even sure he heard me.

“You left her in the house alone?”

Shaking my head, I took a deep breath. “No, your mom’s with her.” I couldn’t hide the grin.

“Shit,” he said before he kissed me again.

CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

KIPP

Leaving with so much uncertainty wasn’t something I wanted to do, but right now, I needed to get this business deal done. I didn’t like leaving Nora and Bella there alone, but Nash and Linc would keep an eye on them.

The entire flight to Texas was too long, and being irritated didn’t help. I rarely went on these business trips but Linc assured me it was me they wanted to see. Arriving at the ranch we were about to purchase, I took a quick inventory. The barn, out buildings, stable and a lot needed to be replaced. We were paying entirely too much for this place. Getting out of the car I rented, I looked over the house. It looked homey, much smaller than mine but I could see raising a family in it. Knocking on the door, I waited. “You must be Mr. Miller.” A man in his mid fifties opened the door and stuck out his hand.

“I am. You’re Mr. Pine?” I said, shaking it.

“Please, call me Ray and this is my wife Lena.” A woman walked up behind him and her smile seemed familiar. Her dark eyes danced and she reminded me of Nora. God, I missed her. Everything was a mess and I knew in time it would figure itself out but I needed her more than I needed the air I breathe.

“Pleasure to meet you both. Please call me Kipp, I don’t do well with formalities.” I smiled and they welcomed me into their home. I had expected to go to an office, or at least the kitchen table but Ray walked into the living room. Pictures hung on almost every wall, the sun beamed through the south windows. One picture caught my eye. “Ray, may I?” I pointed at the photo and he nodded. Standing, I walked over to it and my world spun.

“That’s our daughter, Nora,” Lena said, her voice sounding sad. “We haven’t seen her in almost five years. She has a son now.”

“Cooper,” I whispered, emotion filling my throat.

“Excuse me?” Lena questioned. I turned to look at her and smiled.

“His name is Cooper. He’s four. He’s the best cowboy on my ranch.” I reached for the phone in my pocket. Opening the photos, I scrolled and found the picture of Nora and Cooper I had taken before hell had broken loose, while we were out on our first ride together, trying to find a horse for Cooper. Handing it to Lena, I watched her face register who it was.

“My god, Ray, come here,” she gasped, pressing my phone to her chest like she was able to hug them both. Ray looked over her shoulder and tears immediately filled his eyes. “How long has she been with you?” Lena motioned for me to sit and I did as I was told.

“I hired her seven months ago to cook for me. She was working at a coffee shop in town, and I didn’t think she was safe there, so I brought her and Cooper home with me that day.” I wanted to say more but I wasn’t sure how.

“And how long did it take for you to fall in love with her young man?” her father asked, leaning back in his chair with a knowing smile, before he looked over at his wife.

Not hiding the chuckle, I nodded. “Before I got us home that day.” It wasn’t a lie. She was exactly who I needed. Lena wiped at her eyes and beamed at me. “Tell me about her?” I asked. All business went out the window and I suddenly knew why Linc made me come here instead of him.

“That picture, she was the Rodeo Queen for the west part of the state. She was all round champion at all her events. Breakaway roping was her specialty.”
