“Right now? I suppose we could, I had other plans, but sure.” She turned to go back to her room and I grabbed her arm.

“No, not tonight. I want to know about your other plans.” Leaning down, we kissed in the hallway.

“The stock trailer is free. If I remember not so correctly, we had a good time.” She wiggled her eyebrows. Reaching for the doorknob, I swung the door to our room open.

“Baby, those living quarter’s haven’t been cleaned probably since you were in it last. So, while I’m not opposed to reliving that night, totally sober of course, some work needs to be done in it first.” Reaching for the bottom of her shirt, I pulled it up over her head and discarded it on the floor.

“Why don’t you use it?” she asked.

“Seriously? We’re discussing a stock trailer that is totally useless unless we’re rodeoing? If we have to ship cattle, we will get a cattle liner, if we’re taking one to the vet, we will use the small one, and if we have a few that need to go somewhere we will use the other ones.” Looking down at her, she was giggling. While I was talking, she’d stripped and was waiting for me. “You’re terrible,” I said as I ran toward her, picking her up and putting her over my shoulder. Flopping her down on the bed, I stood between her legs. “There’s no more of this pretending you’re naïve about ranch life. I know better now.” Pulling open my shirt, I let it fall to the floor. My belt and pants were next and Nora scooted back on the bed. Kneeling, I admired her, she gazed up at me and there was something different between us. Sliding my hand between her legs, I smiled when I felt how ready she was for me.

In one quick movement, I slid into her and we both sighed with pleasure. Her fingers trailed over my tattoo like they always did when she saw it. “Guess I need to get a horse added,” I said quietly, before thrusting back into her.

“You could wait and add two more.” Her eyes locked on me. “Maybe we should give Cooper a sibling.” She wrapped her arms around my neck and I leaned down to kiss her.

“As much as I want to make another baby with you, and I will practice every chance I can, I want to marry you first.” I had expected wild abandoned love making tonight, but it was different, comfortable, and a decompression of the last week. We were together, alone, and solely focused on one another. Nora closed her eyes and licked her lips. Arching her back, her breathing became shallow gasps. Thrusting harder into her, she spasmed around me and I couldn’t hold back. My orgasm rocketed through me and I collapsed on her. Shifting, I pulled the blankets down and we crawled under them.

“Kipp, we’re parents,” she whispered as I held her tightly to me. I kissed the back of her head. It was a thought that wasn’t lost on me, either. “I’ve been it for so long, and I wouldn’t trade it for the world, but you’re here now, and you’re his dad. This is all too much.” She rolled over in my arms and wrapped her arm around me. “What addition to the house are you going to do?”

“What do you mean?” I asked, nuzzling my nose into her hair.

“Well, all the men in your family have made changes to the house, have you thought of what you would do?” Her voice was soft, maybe a little sleepy even.

“It’s five thousand square feet, we don’t need more than that, so all I think I’m going to add is kids.” I tightened my arms around her. This was going to be an amazing life.

CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR

NORA

Ihated flying. I liked the bus. This was torture. Kipp and Cooper seemed oblivious to the absolute mess I was. It didn’t matter that I was in a private plane, I hated every moment from the time I set foot into an airport to the time I walked back into my house. Kipp’s enormous hand rested on my thigh and squeezed slightly. Maybe he could sense how uncomfortable I was, but it was enough to settle my mind slightly.

“We are beginning our descent and will be landing in thirty minutes. Please buckle your safety belts and prepare the cabin for landing,” the pilot announced over the crackly intercom. Kipp slipped Cooper’s belt around him because he’d finally dozed off.

“Baby?” His low voice sent shivers down my spine, I looked up at him and smiled. “What’s wrong? The flight or going home?” Sneaking his seatbelt off, he moved closer to me.

“Both?” I said, unsure of how to answer him. His warm hand on mine stopped from shaking.

“Just breathe,” he whispered in my ear. The rumble of his voice made the butterflies in my stomach flutter for a different reason.

“You know they’ll make you stay in a different room right?” Going home wasn't anything I ever thought would happen, with him was even more unlikely. “And we’ll probably have to go to church. The ladies there are bigger gossips than the branding ladies. We’ll never get out of it, and then we’re going to have to explain a million times that Cooper is yours and what happened. I think I want to go back to Montana. Why didn’t we tell them to come to us? They have all the time in the world.” I was spiraling, Kipp put his thumb under my chin and turned me to look at him.

He leaned into me, his kisses pushed all the worry from my mind. It was sweet, and swoon-worthy, and left me wanting more. “I’ll go to church. I will proudly tell everyone how Cooper is mine, and I will make it clear that I’m so in love with you it makes me hurt. Now the separate rooms thing might be a deal breaker. How am I supposed to sleep without you in my arms?” He stole another kiss, and this time, I reached around to the back of his neck and held him to me. “Yep, the bedroom thing isn’t going to work. It’s my ranch now, do you think that will hold any weight?” he mumbled against my mouth. I shook my head, and giggled.

“There is a great spot in the barn I used to go hide in, though.” I fiddled with the collar on his crisp shirt and tried to avoid staring at his lap. That wasn’t going to help either of us today.

“Why did you hide in the barn?” he asked, his forehead still pressed against mine.

“I could be me out there. That’s where I read the books that mom wouldn’t let me bring into the house. Where I used to imagine my life on the rodeo circuit and dream of loving a big, burly rancher that did unspeakable things to me.” I could feel my cheeks getting warm. It was the first time I’d ever told anyone about that spot, and what I did out there. “The books might have been the influence for that.” I grinned at him. “That's why I left that bar with you that night. You were every man I’d ever read about right in front of me. You fulfilled dreams you didn’t even know about. I don’t remember much about that night, obviously, but I do remember thinking you were the leading man from my books.” Letting my gaze shift to our hands, I waited for him to tell me I was crazy or silly.

“Why haven’t you told me this before now?” He moved his hand and rested it on my neck. If he didn’t move it, I was going to take him to the room in the back of the plane, seatbelt sign be damned.

“I’ve learned not to tell people my dreams, they always rolled their eyes, or called me silly.” I shrugged. The little girl whose imagination was bigger than her life was still very much afraid to confide in people.

“You don’t ever have to be afraid to tell me your dreams. I want to know, so I can help make them possible for you. You’re going to have to show me this spot, because my imagination is going wild thinking of you there.” Kipp moved his hand higher on neck, my eyes fluttered closed and I forgot how to breathe. “Open your eyes,” he demanded. I did as he said and gazed into his eyes. “Nobody’s opinion matters anymore. You’re mine and if anyone makes you feel less than, they’re going to have to deal with me. Understand?” He growled under his breath, his eyes were on fire, he was clenching his jaw and I’d never felt more loved.

The truck Kipp had rented rumbled down the road and as we got closer to my parent’s home my nerves were returning. “Mamma, did you like growing up here?” Cooper asked from the back seat as he stared out at the red rock formations.

“I did, but I like Montana more.” I looked over Kipp and smiled. He reached for my hand and laced his fingers through mine.
