“As long as you’re there, Jessie, I don’t care what else is waiting.”

A few hours later, the scent of Brookes’ spicy cologne wafts through my apartment. Pizza sits on the counter and there’s cold beer in the fridge, but Brookes doesn’t bother with any of it. Instead, he cups my face in his big hands. His thumbs drift over my cheekbones before he dips his head down to kiss me.

His teeth graze my lower lip as he walks us backward inside the apartment. I wrap my arms around his shoulders, pulling myself impossibly closer to him.

He smiles against my mouth, pulling away slightly to rest his forehead on mine. “Sorry for taking so long after I dropped you off. I had a less than pleasant call with my father. I’ve been avoiding it for days, but if I kept avoiding it, he would have made an appearance.”

“It’s okay.” I step back from him and head over to the counter. “I’m glad you’re here now. How did the conversation with your dad go?”

The scent of melted cheese and pepperoni has my stomach growling as I put two slices on a plate. Brookes does the same, taking two beers from the fridge before following me over to the couch.

The cushions dip with our weight as we sit down and kick our feet up on the coffee table. Brookes cracks open the bottles of beer and together we start to relax. I shift around, leaning deeper into the cushions.

“Talking to my dad never goes over well,” Brookes says with a roll of his eyes. “We have very different ideas about what I should be doing with my life. Always have. He’s harder on me than he is on my sister. I want to believe that he thinks he’s doing what’s best, but at the end of the day, it’s hard to know.”

“I’ve met your dad a couple times over the years. He seems like a hard man to be raised by.”

Brookes shrugs and takes a large bite of the pizza. “He didn’t used to be. Once my mom died, he became someone else. It was like all the best parts of him died with her.”

“I’m sorry to hear that.”

He takes a sip of beer and smiles. “It’s fine. It’s not something I want to spend the rest of our night focusing on though.”

“And what do you want to spend the rest of the night doing?” I ask, my tone sultry as I set the pizza to the side.

Right now, I’m hungry for something else.

Brookes arches an eyebrow, the corner of his mouth tugging into a smile. He sets his food and drink on the coffee table. “I don’t know. Did you have a thought in mind?”

I smirk as I get up from the couch and reach for his hand. He links his fingers with mine, his calloused palm brushing against my skin. A shiver runs down my spine as he gets up from the couch.

“I might have a few things in mind,” I say as I lead him to the bedroom.

BROOKES

Igrin as I loop my arms around her waist and pull her back to me. “And what might those ideas be? You’re not going to lead me into your bedroom and then leave me in the dark, are you?”

Jessie hums, tilting her head back onto my shoulder. Her blonde hair falls to one side, exposing the delicate skin on her neck. My cock stiffens as I dip my head, tracing my tongue lightly over her pulse point.

“I think you’ve got the right idea,” she says, her voice breathy.

She reaches up and back, running her fingers through my hair. I make a noise in the back of my throat as she grinds the curve of her ass against me. My cock strains against my jeans as Jessie laughs.

“A little eager there, are you?” She rolls her ass again, gasping when my hands travel down to her hips.

I grip her hips and pull her harder against me, my cock pressing into the curve of her ass. “Well, when you want to stand here and grind on me, I’m going to be more than a little eager.”

Jessie smirks, pulling on my hair lightly before her hands drop to her sides. “I haven’t shown you around the bedroom properly yet. You clearly need the full tour of the place.”

I scrub a hand down my face, hiding my smile as she walks away from me. She keeps a dramatic sway to her hips, accentuating the toned curves of her body.

“And now you’re going to tease me?”

Jessie shrugs one shoulder as she runs her fingertips over the white duvet spread across her massive bed. The bed takes up most of the bedroom, but she doesn’t seem to care. The bookshelf that sits between two gigantic windows is filled with political thriller books.

There’s a long, low dresser on another wall between two doors. Jessie opens the top drawer of the dresser and pulls something out before disappearing through the door on the right.
