Seth laughed.

“Pete Laker’s been texting me all night.”

Seth shifted so he could look at her.

Why was she telling him about it now? She was going to tell him tomorrow, or maybe next week. “Maybe I’m a little tipsy.”

“All night?”

She nodded. “I think he sent like a hundred text messages.”

Seth’s brows drew together. “Show me.”

“I left the phone in the kitchen.” She drew a breath through her nose. “Or did I bring it up to my bedroom?”

“What did the messages say?”

“Just the same warnings in different words, and some articles about Movement’s involvement in some conspiracy.”

Seth’s brows rose.

“You know about those?”

“Apparently Movement is building cell towers that cause illnesses and developing medications for those illnesses.”

“Ooh,” she said and laughed.

“Clary.” Seth’s tone was stern.

“Okay, not funny.” She sat up straight. “Do you want me to block his number? Then he can’t send me anything.”

Seth poked his tongue into his cheek.

“I don’t believe those articles.”

Seth shook his head. “We have never built and aren’t building cell towers. I don’t even know how that rumor started.” He ran a hand through his hair. “But for Pete Laker to send something like that to you is concerning.”

Clary yawned softly. “Can we deal with that another day? What time is it anyway?”

“Nearly four.”

She had spent quite a bit of energy keeping everyone from opening their presents once the clock struck twelve. “I’m exhausted.” She leaned back into him and closed her eyes.

“And you’re going to sleep like this?”

“I’m assuming you’ll take me up to bed.”

“The amount of trust you have in people is worrying.” As he said that, he shifted and stood with her in his arms.

“Seth Anderson.” She lifted her head and mimicked his stern voice. “Besides my parents, I’ve never let anyone else carry me like this.” She dropped her head back against him. “What should we eat for breakfast tomorrow?”

Seth laughed again, and she smiled as she heard the deep echoing within his chest.

“I like to hear you laugh.”

He kissed her hair and mumbled something she couldn’t quite catch, just something about killing Pete Laker.
