“You don’t like it?”

“It’s just …” She licked her lips. “I know Holly needed you guys to worship the ground she walked on.”

“I enjoy taking care of you.”

She nodded slowly. “Okay, then.” She scanned the place. “I think you’ve made me the envy of every other woman here.”

“Good.”

She chuckled and waited for him to change into his own shoes.

But as he did, he made some small talk about the weather so he could look up at her, then behind her. He repeated that several times, which made Clary fidget in her seat.

“I feel like Pete Laker is going to jump out from behind me at any moment,” she said when Seth was done putting on his shoes.

He grabbed their skates in one hand and put a hand on her back as they headed back to the rental area. “Someone’s been watching you since we started skating.”

“How do you know that?”

“Because I can see his gaze trained on you.” Seth nudged her slightly forward so she was a step ahead of him.

“Maybe it’s someone I know.” She was about to look over her shoulder when Seth cupped his hand against her face to keep her looking at him.

“If it’s someone you know, he would’ve come over to say ‘hi’ instead of simply watching you.” Seth shifted his hand to her hip as he returned the skates. “And I think he took some photos.”

Clary blew out a breath. “Let’s just go, then.”

Seth took her hand, and they headed toward where he’d parked.

Several times, Clary had to break into a half-jog to keep up with Seth’s long legs. But every time she did, he always slowed down to match her pace.

“We should just confront him,” Clary said.

They already had a mystery surrounding Pete Laker. They didn’t need another mystery.

“Maybe—” Suddenly, Clary was left alone. When she turned to find Seth, he had a man pressed up against a tree. “Seth.” She hurried over.

“Why are you following us?”

The man held his hands up in peace. “I’m Glen Morey.”

Glen Morey. That name sounded familiar …

Clary tipped her head back. “You’re the reporter who broke the news about EB Co.’s fake account opening.”

“I am.”

Seth narrowed his eyes. “Prove it.”

“I have my press credentials in my pocket.”

Seth released him and took a step back, but he kept an arm out to keep Clary behind him.

Glen slowly reached into his pocket and took out a pass while Clary ran a Google search.

“It’s him,” Clary said and turned her phone toward Seth while he was checking Glen’s work pass.

Seth returned the pass to Glen. “Why are you following us? And why were you taking photos of her?”
