There wasn’t anything in most of the cabinets anyway. He just needed to remove a section of cabinets to make space for the oven. Clary had told him what she would need, and he’d already found the specifications for the oven on the Internet.

“As in you will take down the cabinets? Do you know how to do that?”

Seth rolled his eyes. “I’ve sent you the list of things I need. Get them by the end of today. I won’t be coming into the office.” Which was the first time that had happened since he started the company.

He’d never skipped work before. Even during the holidays, he would sometimes go in to work.

Clary came down in her business suit and chuckled when she saw him.

Seth ended the call and arched a brow.

“Why aren’t you dressed for work?” She strode over and standing behind the couch, she gestured for him to take a seat.

“I need to make sure there’s space for an oven that my girlfriend needs to cook her Christmas meal.”

Instead of joining him on the couch, she put her hands on his shoulders. “It would be a lot easier if we just knocked Elton out and kidnapped him over to the Bay mansion.”

He laughed, and she kneaded his shoulders.

Seth had never understood why people enjoyed massages. The thought of having strangers rub their hands all over him was gross, and he couldn’t fathom how that could be in any way relaxing.

But now, with Clary’s hands on his shoulders, it felt heavenly. Simple touches he’d never enjoyed, never even imagined having, suddenly felt natural—yet luxurious at the same time.

“No kidnapping,” he said. “I’ve already sent Tony the list of what we need.”

“And where’s the oven going to fit?”

“You let me worry about that.”

She nodded. “I’ll just get my own ride to work.”

Seth took her hand and pressed his lips to the back of it. “I’m still driving you to work.”

“Are you trying to isolate me from everyone else, Seth?” She narrowed her eyes and draped her arms over his chest as she bent closer. “Won’t even let me grab a ride on my own.”

Oliver strode down the stairs. “One of my research assistants got into a fight with her boyfriend because he refused to pick her up from work.”

Clary tipped her head toward Oliver, then back at Seth. “You have so many supporters here. I need Andrea to move in.”

“I support you, too,” Oliver said while heading into the kitchen. “Which is why I’m going to tell you that Elton’s fighting to get the Christmas Eve shift at the hospital.”

“What?” Clary straightened.

“He always takes that shift since we don’t celebrate Christmas. This year, I think his team leader feels bad and is insisting that he take a break.”

“But he’s fighting to take the shift?”

Oliver nodded. “Zane already told him not to.”

Clary sat on the back of the couch. “Tell him that if he does take the shift, I’ll bring over food for him and his colleagues.”

Seth laughed.

Oliver frowned. “You want him to work?”

“There’s no way he’ll want me to show up at the hospital.”

Oliver licked his lips. “I don’t think he’ll appreciate you trying to manipulate him.”
