“He gets really affected by his cases. I think he hopes he can save the world.” Seth paused and frowned. “Kind of like you.”

“I don’t want or need to save the world. Jesus already did that.” She wiggled her brows.

Seth leaned over and stole a peck. “Make yourself comfortable. I’ll be right back. I’ll go grab the transmitter.”

“Okay.”

He jogged over to the door. “Don’t open the door to Oliver.”

“Yes, sir.”

By the time they binged all the Star Wars movies, it was nearly one in the morning. Seth had asked if she wanted to go to bed and continue another day.

Clary had a long day on Monday, so she really should have gone to bed early.

Which was also precisely why she didn’t.

By the second movie, she was resting against Seth’s chest with his arm draped lazily around her.

When they completed all six movies, she pulled off the headphones and turned her face to his chest.

Clary closed her eyes while the credits rolled. She’d enjoyed the movies. She didn’t understand why they had to start with episode four instead of one. She still didn’t, but she’d gone along with it.

“Did you like them?” Seth asked.

She nodded. “I love the first three.”

“As in episodes four, five, and six?”

“No. As in episodes one, two, and three. I think it really explains why Anakin became Darth Vader. It was Yoda’s fault.”

Seth leaned away from Clary, though not so far back that she had to move from her comfortable position. “Are you serious?”

“I suppose my answer should be no?”

“But it isn’t?”

With her eyes still closed, she shook her head. “If Yoda had just trusted Anakin more … He just wanted to belong and he wanted approval.”

“Clary, if anyone ever asks if you’ve seen those movies, just say no.”

She opened her eyes. “Why? I mean, the Jedis’ insistence on not having feelings pushed Anakin to the dark side. If they had just encouraged, guided, and believed in him, he wouldn’t have gone over to the dark side.”

Seth’s lips curled. “What am I going to do with you?”

“You don’t agree?”

“Yoda already sensed Anakin’s fear of loss, and how fear would tempt him to the dark side.”

“Anyone would fear losing someone they love. That’s only natural.”

“Jedi should rise above that.”

She rolled her eyes. “That’s as good as saying Christians should rise above sin. We can’t. That’s why we need Jesus.”

“Seriously?”
