“The boy drunk?”

She nodded again. “His parents cut him off.”

“Good.” Grandma Moretti glanced over at Seth. “Drag him into the parking garage. I’ll deal with him later.” She hooked a hand on Clary’s arm. “Come on. I brought food.”

Clary glanced over her shoulder. “Wait,” she said. “I want you to meet Seth. He—”

“I know who he is.” Grandma Moretti continued ahead without looking back. “We’ll talk inside.”

Clary swallowed hard.

Talking inside meant things were about to get bad, because Grandma Moretti would never lose her temper in public.

But away from prying eyes?

That was a different matter.

CHAPTER 15

Seth watched Clary walk away with her Grandma Moretti. She’d glanced over once, then got dragged inside.

“How bad is it?” Seth asked when Zane strode over.

“That old lady is a sly one.”

Seth shot his eldest brother a glare.

“She introduced herself as Clary’s grandmother. I thought she was her foster mother.”

“That’s just a formality,” Seth said. “How long has she been here?”

“Not long. I gave her a tour.”

Seth arched a brow and grabbed Hugh’s arm while Zane picked up the Eolenfeld’s ankle.

“Oliver wanted to.”

Seth nodded. That made more sense.

He cocked his head to the side, and he and Zane dragged Hugh into the garage.

“I didn’t allow it, though,” Zane continued. “She would eat him alive.”

“She’s just an old lady, who is very good at cooking.”

“Yes, Oliver is quite excited about the bags of food she brought. I think it could feed us for a month. Poor cab driver had to make two trips—with Oliver’s help—to carry everything in. She tipped well, though.” Zane locked eyes with him. “But she isn’t some silly old lady.”

Seth nodded.

“Where?” Zane asked.

Seth pointed to the space behind where he usually parked his car. “Is Elton home yet? Do I need to hide him?” He didn’t need to tempt his brother to run a car over Hugh.

“He’s home. He’s especially subdued with the old lady.”

Seth arched his brow again.

Zane shrugged. “I have no idea why. He came in, saw her, then was just quiet until he found an excuse to leave.”
