It had been over an hour since Clary got to the mansion.

It was normal for Italians to have long lunches, but surely Clary wouldn’t stay for hours when she had so much work to do.

And it was oh-so-tempting to log into the website and check her location.

Which was too much.

But she said she wouldn’t mind. Seth pushed that thought from his mind and turned his attention back to the email.

When his phone rang, he snapped his attention to it, only to sigh. “Yes, Detective Murphy.”

“I’m back at the apartment. No shipping boxes.”

Seth had called the detective after dropping Clary off at work. Detective Murphy didn’t recall seeing any packing boxes, but said he’d drop by again to confirm. “Thanks.”

“Do you want to come by and take a look for yourself? Ron Woznick has been bugging me to let him come down here too.”

Seth sighed. He’d forgotten about the New York detective.

“If you’re taking a look, I’m sure my superiors won’t have an issue with Ron Woznick tagging along.”

Seth ran his hand through his hair. “I’ll go down now.”

“Now?”

“Yes.” He got up. “You don’t have to wait for me. I’ll just take a quick look around.” He doubted he would find anything.

Detective Murphy had already taken a look at the apartment and found nothing. From what Ron had said, Gavin Ressler was a careful person. Ressler had tried to destroy every letter he’d received in prison so no one could figure out what he was doing. He probably made sure he cleared any incriminating evidence out of the apartment as well.

But Seth welcomed the distraction.

He was in the elevator, on the way down to the parking garage, when a call from Oliver came in.

Oliver never called Seth at work, but the reception in the elevator wasn’t the best, so Seth decided to let the phone ring.

But a second call from Oliver came in the moment the first call ended.

“I’m in the elevator,” he said when he answered the call. “I—”

“Clary’s outside.”

“Outside?”

“I can see down to where the protestors are. There was a sudden commotion, so I went over to see what was going on.”

“You’re on the fifteenth floor. You can’t possibly be sure.” Despite saying that, he jabbed at the button for the first floor.

“Fine. It looks like her. Are you on your way already?”

“Yes.”

“Okay,” Oliver said, and the call ended.

Seth entered the website and entered the login and password Clary gave him. He sighed when he saw the location.

Oliver was right. It was her.
