“Yes,” Stephen said.

“And we have your assurance the law won’t come after us.”

Stephen considered this for a few seconds. “I’m not in the business of making arrangements with criminals, and since I assume none of you are interested in witness protection, I can’t promise you anything. But I will tell you that the bureau is far more interested in the Everglades Viper than in the Mercy Blades. You guys are a gang, obviously, and a problem, but you’re not killing people like flies, doing arms deals, or handling human trafficking operations. Putting him behind bars will help more than just the community, it will actively save lives.”

"Still doesn't feel right," Teo muttered, pacing back and forth. His agitation was clear as day, slicing through the tense atmosphere like a knife.

"But it's the only way, Teo," I said softly, stepping in front of him to stop his pacing. I reached up, touching his face gently. He didn't move away this time, but he didn't lean into my touch either. His eyes bore into mine with such intensity that it took my breath away.

"I just don't want you in danger," he whispered, his hand reaching up to cover mine on his cheek.

"I know," I murmured back. "But we can't have justice without risk."

“I don’t care about justice. I care about you.”

“If we don’t do this, he’ll keep coming back for her, Teo,” Grayson said from the sofa. He had been watching us intently. “Even if you did give him the Blades and didn’t double cross him at all, there’s no guarantee he would leave Sofia or Sam alone.”

Teo's eyes didn't move away from my face as Grayson spoke. He was silent for a moment, and then he sighed heavily. "I know," he admitted, his voice barely a whisper.

Jace stepped closer, placing his hand on Teo's shoulder in a show of solidarity. "We will keep her safe, boss. She will not be alone in this. We all have stakes in this now."

Stephen nodded in agreement. "That's right. And the sooner we act on this plan, the sooner we get the Viper off our backs."

Victor interjected, his voice firm and commanding. "But we make sure every step of this plan is foolproof. If we are doing this, we're doing it right."

“We’re all still alive, right?” Victor said.

It made Teo laughed, but he didn’t seem amused.

“Fine,” he said. “Fine. I just…I just need a moment." His expression was raw, tortured almost.

But I didn’t want to give him a moment. I didn’t want to him brood and worry. So instead, I pulled his face down to mine, our lips crashing in a desperate kiss that sucked the air out of the room. His arms wrapped around my waist instinctively as though he couldn't help but respond.

I heard a couple of coughs from the boys, but I ignored them, focusing entirely on Teo. His kiss was possessive, hungry, filled with so much pent-up emotion it was like he was trying to pour everything he felt for me into this one act. I matched his intensity, giving as good as I got.

He grabbed my hand and led me up the spiral stairs. I could hear the rest of the guys saying something, but it didn’t matter. All that mattered was Teo, the way his hand felt in mine, the desperation in each step he took.

And then he was opening the door to his bedroom and I was following him inside.

Chapter Twenty-One: Teo

Ipulled Sofia into the bedroom then pushed her against the wall, capturing her lips in a crushing kiss. My hands roamed her body, making her gasp into my mouth. Her hands clung to my shirt, tugging me closer as if she was drowning and I was her lifeline. But she was mine too, my anchor amidst chaos. Her arms went around my neck, fingers tangling in my hair as she matched my intensity. Her soft moans were like music to my ears, a symphony that drove me wild with desire.

"Sunshine," I breathed against her lips, pulling back for just a moment to gaze into her eyes. God, those eyes. Bright and full of fire, they were the sunshine in my otherwise stormy world. "I need you."

With another heated kiss, I lifted her up and carried her to the bed. As we fell on the soft mattress our bodies were already entwined together, each desperate movement and touch a clear testament to how much we had missed each other. She grimaced when I pushed her against the sofa and I was in pain too, so I decided to take my time to take her clothes off.

She seemed to want exactly the same thing. She unbuttoned my shirt, her fingers deft and sure, as she explored every plane and angle of my chest. Every touch sent reverberations of pleasure coursing through me. I kissed her neck, trailing down the column of her throat to her collarbone, savoring the sweet taste of her skin.

I grabbed the bottom of her top and slid it up her body, revealing the smooth expanse of her skin. Her chest heaved with every breath she took, her eyes darting to mine, filled with anticipation and desire. I undid her bra, my fingers brushing against her skin making her gasp. I took a moment to appreciate the sight of her, all laid bare for me. A sight that never failed to take my breath away.

“God, you’re fucking gorgeous,” I said. My fingertips slid down the front of her body, toward the scratches and bruises that were there anew. “Does this hurt?”

"I'm okay," she breathed, her voice husky with desire. "I've missed you, Teo." Her hands reached up to pull my face towards hers and our lips clashed with a hunger that couldn't be contained. I groaned into the kiss, letting my hands roam over the curve of her waist, the swell of her hips.

My fingers then found the button of her jeans, undoing it quickly. I heard her sharp intake of breath as I slowly slid the zipper down. The sound was tantalizing, made even more so by the heat in her eyes as she lay there watching me.

Her jeans went next, leaving her in just her underwear. My gaze roved over her body, taking in every inch of her. There was nothing quite like the sight of Sofia in nothing but her underwear. She grinned at me. “If I knew this was going to happen, I would’ve worn something nicer.”
