"I care about all of you," I confessed, meeting her gaze. "You're my family."
Her smile widened at that. "We're lucky to have you in our lives, Teo."
My heart warmed at her sentiment. "Nah," I returned her smile. "I'm the lucky one." I reached across the table, gently cupping her cheek and brushing my thumb against her soft skin. "I was just adrift before you stormed into my life, Sofia."
She blushed prettily at that, a natural reaction despite our months together. My Sofia. My Sunshine. She was brave, stubborn, full of fire and unlike anyone else I had ever known.
"I think Sam will be fine," I reassured her, trying to alleviate any worries she might have for her brother. "He's tougher than he looks.”
She smiled. “I love you,” she said.
“Sunshine,” I replied, smiling at her. “You have no idea.”
