“I stabbed him,” he told me.

“You did so good,” I said, pulling him into my chest for a hug. “You protected yourself well.”

“They jumped me at the radio station.”

My jaw ached from clenching it, from how angry this entire situation made me. “I know, baby.”

“Cops are on their way,” Kruger announced.

McClaren took off running toward the door. On his way, he trampled the unconscious guard.

“No loyalty,” Kruger muttered and went after him.

McClaren froze the second he wrenched the door open.

“Senator?” Ryan’s voice boomed from the hall. “You’ve been outvoted.”

Rush jolted forward and, with one swing, knocked McClaren out cold.

We let him lie where he landed.

EPILOGUE

SEVERAL WEEKS LATER…

Prism

Frowning, I stared down at the phone screen.

This is not what I was expecting.

Instead of texting a bunch of scowling emojis and question marks, I called him instead.

He picked up on the first ring. “Hello?”

I paused. No baby? Princess? Light of my life?

Fine, he never said the last one. Cringe. But still, this greeting was suspicious.

“What are you doing?” I questioned.

His warm chuckle rolled into my ear and created a river of warmth that flowed down my neck. I would never get out of the chokehold this man’s voice had on me.

Good.

“Is something wrong?” he seemed bemused.

It was pissing me off. “Besides the fact you answered my call like I’m some weird telemarketer and not your boyfriend?” I sniffed.

He laughed.

“I checked the app,” I declared.

“That’s what it’s there for,” he replied, smooth and unbothered.

After everything that went down with McClaren, Arsen added the tracking app to his phone so we could see each other’s location all the time. I didn’t have a problem with it. I mean, without that app, I might have stayed stuffed in that hotel closet for who knew how long. It had saved a lot of Elite ass over the past year, so it seemed like a good idea to me.

“Aren’t you going to tell me?” I demanded.
