That’s right.

I look down and find Terra’s beloved male. Raine.

He looks asleep and peaceful. How cruel it would be if she were to see him again, dead, a tool for my liking. I smile widely and let the darkness take him.

Raine’s eyes open slowly and the world will suffer for it.

Terra should have been back by now.

I pace our room with dread. Kai passed out the second we got back but I can’t rest until I know Terra is okay. Fuck, even my chest hurts with the loss of Raine. He wasn’t very friendly, but I liked the guy.

My steps falter. I’m going to go look for her.

The Cosmos House is quiet. More of us survived than the other Shadow Houses, but everyone is worn out. I make my way through the homeroom and overhear Kallos in his study. His voice sounds unusually sharp and loud.

Curiosity gets the best of me and I press my ear against the door.

“What do you mean Arthur and Elias have their hearts?” Kallos growls and—I assume—slams his fists against his desk.

A deep and familiar voice responds. “Exactly what I said. He has his heart. We’ll be taking Whales of Tauh soon. Get your students ready.”

There’s a long pause and sweat drips down my nose.

“Yes, Dr. Cein.”

I inhale a gasp and straighten. Dr. Cein? But why does he sound like…

The door swings open and Kallos gives me a disgruntled stare as he steps aside. The man behind him has gray hair streaked with dark strands of brown. His eyes are as evil as I remember, as auburn as my own. He wears Fernestia’s black cloak, a sun emblem at the center. And the motherfucker smiles at me the same way he would when he’d beat me.

“Hello, son.”
