He's beyond gone tonight. His heart and soul are nowhere to be seen as he stumbles, cornering me against the wall.

“Chris? You're?—”

“And whose fault is that?” he snaps. “I was perfectly fine until you showed up and messed up with my head. I just needed one night to get you out of my head, but it seems like it's not enough. It's all your fault.”

I stare at him in unbelief. Did he come here to blame me for not being satisfied with one night? Damn, I really fell in love with a jerk.

He smirks, his eyes not leaving my lips. “As much as I would love to kiss you now, I know I will enjoy it more when I'm sober.”

My heart flutters despite myself. “You are crazy, Chris.”

He nods. “Crazy for you, I guess.”

I will do anything to wipe that smirk off his face. “If you wanted more, you could have just asked. I'm down for quickies.”

His eyes finally leave my lips to look at my eyes in shock.

I don't know what has come over me, but if he thinks he's going to rule over me, he's wrong. He deserves to pay for the pain he's causing my heart. I make the rules.

“Hit me up if you want to try something new,” I cunningly add with a sly curve of my lips before hastily turning to leave without seeing nor hearing his response.

It's no big deal. It's just sex, right? I will be the one to wreck his heart and break down his ego.

You don't know what's coming for you, Chris White. You don't.

Chapter 12

Chris

It's been a day. Well, thirty-two hours and twenty-six minutes since Gianna made that proposition.

Since then, I have been restless, wondering if she was being serious or not. This is why I'm parked in front of a flower shop, getting her flowers and being more polite when I ask.

I have only given flowers to my mom and Nala once, and that was years ago. So, needless to say, I have no idea what I'm doing or what to buy.

Does she even like flowers?

I couldn't ask Nala about it because it would make me suspicious, and the last thing I want is for Nala to find out about Gianna and me.

I finally get out of my car and close the door. A middle-aged woman walks out with both hands on her hips, staring into space as if deep in thought.

I immediately walk over to her, smiling politely. “Good morning, Ma'am.”

The woman's eyes scan me from head to toe before she breaks into a wide smile. “I have every flower you can ask for. So please come in.” She ushers me in, and indeed, I'm overwhelmed by the large assortment of different kinds of flowers.

All the sweet scents and vibrant colors make my jaw drop in awe. They are all so beautiful that I can't choose. I turn to look at the woman who is already looking at me expectantly.

“Uhm, could you help me pick out some flowers?”

The woman nods, beaming, “Of course, that's my favorite thing to do.”

She walks further inside and waves me over. “I will help you make a beautiful bouquet.”

She stands with her hands on her hips, looking around until her eyes stop on me. “Is the flower for your girlfriend? Wife? Husband? Boyfriend?”

My cheeks grow warm, and I awkwardly rub the back of my neck. “Something like that.”

“Ah, I see. Well then, I have the perfect flowers for you.” She walks around carefully selecting each flower with a trained eye.
