Her words after the first orgasm turned entirely incomprehensible. Now that she had been properly revved up, her body would be even more responsive. The only words that did make any sense were the curses, and they came out with long, shaky breaths.

“Keep. Reading,” I demanded.

I relinquished some of my grip on her hair again and she did her best to obey the command. There was no chance of her succeeding at this point, but I loved the fact that she tried.

“Please, Professor, pl?—”

I took pity on her, bending her forward and pinning her against the table by the back of her neck and riding her with every ounce of desire she had stoked in me. She pawed so desperately against the wood, her fingers curling over the edge, her legs vibrating, and her sounds turning raw. I would never ever get tired of her. Taking her apart at her request was a unique pleasure that I would treasure. When I finally buried deep and spilled within her, we were both slick with sweat and breathing hard. I had absolutely no desire to vacate the warmth of her body, so I stayed right where I was until our breathing had calmed and our purrs warred with each other for who could be loudest.

“Remind me to never do my homework again,” she said with a tired laugh.

“Anytime you want the professor to teach you a lesson, you just say the word, kitten.”

“You shouldn’t give me power like that. I’ll abuse it.”

I chuckled quietly and regretfully eased myself out of her. “You’re welcome to have all the power you want. I should get you washed up before bed.”

We took our time in the shower, and when we finally snuggled into bed for the night and she fell asleep on me, my mind decided to turn on me, running through everything that tomorrow might bring.

There was a good chance I was going to be upset either way. If the alpha wasn’t good to her, I would be pissed at him, and if he was, then I would have to meet him soon and consider letting him into my life. I still hadn’t discussed much of it with Allie, but that was mostly because I wasn’t sure what to say. What I was comfortable with would highly depend on the individuals involved, and the only way to get to know the individuals involved was to wait for her to be interested enough in someone to put them on my radar.

I stared at the ceiling for hours while Allie slept in my arms. Things were too good between us for me to worry too deeply that she might abandon ship. I just had to worry about making space for others. Packs were difficult to navigate simply because of how many people had to actually be compatible with one another. It didn’t work very well if they were only compatible with the omega. Pack life was more like a web of relationships. Not everyone needed to be romantically or sexually involved, but a lot were.

We had plenty of things to consider. As difficult as it could be to find one person you were truly compatible with, packs somehow made it work with multiples. I reached for my phone in the dark and messaged Carla. She was the only one close to me in a pack and I didn’t know who else to talk to about it, short of waking up my mate and making her exhausted for the next day.

Sidney:

Totally fine if you’re asleep but I am freaking out

Carla:

You’re in luck because I’m having a late-night snack

What are you freaking out about?

Sidney:

What if they don’t like that I foster dogs?

Carla:

1 - no one is going to be immediately moving in with anyone

2 - if it’s important to you, your pack wouldn’t make you stop. They would find a way to be supportive

Sidney:

This would be way easier if I weren’t working with hypothetical people

Carla:

Did you talk to Allie about everything yet?

Sidney:

No

Carla:
