We will work at this together.

I pull out of her slowly, staring into her eyes before leaning down and claiming her lips. With each breath she takes, I’m right there stealing it from her lungs. There’s no me without her, that much I know. I’m a shell of a man when she’s not around.

Her moans are muffled between our kisses as I thrust slowly in and out of her. She shifts, trying to change our pace, but I hold her down with a shake of my head. “I want to savor this tonight, Red.”

She stops her movements and lets me continue my slow pace, her eyes searching mine for the love I’ve been holding inside since the hospital. “I love you,” she whispers against my mouth.

Sweeter words have never been said.

“I love you,” I grind out before bringing my thumb over her clit and rubbing it gently. “Now come for me, baby.”

It’s nothing but perfection as she cries out my name into the night, me following right along with her, before I roll onto my side and pull her against my chest.

Chapter Twenty-Eight

Autumn

Easton is insisting that I put a blindfold on for whatever he has planned tonight, which is only making my anxiety worse. What could he possibly be doing?

I’ve got fabric covering my eyes and Bethany holding my hand beside me, when I hear the crunch of gravel under what I assume is Easton’s truck. I keep my ears open as footsteps start across the drive, getting closer to me, before a warm hand falls onto my shoulder. “Do you trust me?”

The sound of Easton’s voice causes me to shiver and I nod my head slowly with a smile. “Always.”

Bethany releases my hand while Easton pulls me forward with him, making sure to keep his pace slow so I don’t fall on my face. He helps me into the passenger seat and shuts the door.

Everything is so much more intense when you can’t see anything.

The seat crinkles under Easton’s weight when he climbs into the truck, then he leans over and clicks my seatbelt into place. As the truck starts moving and my heart thumps wildly in my chest, I wonder what the heck is going on. I’ve been trying to figure out what he’s got planned all week and even tried getting it out of Savanna, but she wouldn’t budge.

I thought maybe it was a surprise party since my birthday wasn’t that long ago, but something tells me he would’ve just had a party at the house instead of driving somewhere. Right?

He drives over a bump and I yelp and Easton puts his hand on my thigh. I place my hand over his to keep it there and we continue the rest of the ride in silence. I’m caught off guard when he suddenly comes to a stop a short time later and then my door opens.

A million things are running through my mind as he takes my hand and helps me out, pulling me in the direction of my surprise. There’s a creak as he opens a door, and it only leaves me more confused.

“Okay,” Easton finally says, the hint of a smile laced in his voice. “You can take the blindfold off.”

The lights ahead are bright, causing me to squint against them until everything finally comes into focus. Everyone is standing in a large open space, smiling brightly at me, and I glance around to figure out where we are. I’m lost though. I’ve never been here before.

“What’s this?”

Easton’s cheeks turn pink, which is a rarity for him, and he spreads his arms wide. “I wanted to give you something you’ve always dreamed of.”

I cock my head to the side and frown. “Which would be?”

“This is your dance studio.”

Dance studio? My heart stops beating and I quickly start to wonder if I’m even alive anymore. Is it possible to have a heart attack at such a young age from a surprise this big? “But, h-how?”

It’s not something I walked around bragging about and the only person I have ever mentioned my love for dance to is Easton, who’s standing there with a glint in his eyes as he watches my reaction. Savanna raises the glass she’s holding from across the room, silently giving me her support, then I turn my attention back to Easton with tears blurring my vision. “When did you do this?”

I never thought this was something I could do with my life, so I forced the idea out of my head. Seeing this large space and knowing it’s all mine, I can imagine all the little girls twirling around on the floor with smiles on their faces. It’s the closest I’ve ever come to having everything I’ve ever wanted, all that’s left is for the man in front of me to put a ring on it.

Easton smiles and shrugs. “Well, it did help that you mentioned it to me once.”

I smile and shake my head. “How could you possibly remember this?” The fact that he kept the information I told him during dinner locked tight, only makes my love for him grow tremendously bigger. “This is amazing,” I whisper. “Thank you.”

He brings his knuckles to my cheek and smiles. “Anything for you, Red.”
