“Is there a reason you’re going through my drawers?” comes Raven's voice, and I spin to face her. I take in her bruised cheek, her swollen eye, and her torn, blood-splattered shirt.

“Where have you been?” I ask, rushing to her and tugging her against me. She lets me, laying her head against my chest. I bury my nose in her hair and inhale her strawberry shampoo. It’s enough to settle the ache in my chest. “I’ve been fucking worried sick.”

“I just wandered around for a while.”

“We went looking for you. You’ve had most of the club out.”

“Sorry. My phone died, so I couldn’t call, and I wasn’t ready to come back here.”

I lead her to the bathroom and turn on the shower. “I’ll let the guys know you’re home.”

I sit on her bed while she showers and send a text to Riggs explaining she’s back and once I get to the bottom of things, I’ll let him know. When she steps back into the bedroom, she looks exhausted. She’s wearing a man’s t-shirt that comes to her thighs, and when she sees me eyeing it, she shrugs. “It’s Chains’ and it’s comfortable.”

I scoff. She’s meant to be my ol’ lady, and I can’t have her wearing another man’s shirt to bed. I shrug out of my kutte and pull my t-shirt over my head. I hold the bottom of Chains’, and she lifts her arms, allowing me to remove it. I suck in a breath when I realise she’s completely naked underneath. I quickly replace the shirt with my own, and she gives a small smile before pulling her sheets back and getting into bed. “What happened?” I ask.

“He was supposed to be alone. He wasn’t.” A tear leaks from her eye, and I lower onto the bed, pulling her against my chest and holding her. “I was supposed to go in, make him think I was gonna dance for him, tie him up, and then hand him to Gerry,” she explains through sobs. “He was too hands-on right from the second I walked in, and then his mate appeared, and it was game over. I couldn’t get them off me.” I stroke her hair, making shushing noises as she sniffles against my chest. “It was like being back with Cobra. I haven’t felt that out of control in such a long time, I forgot how it felt or how to deal with it.”

“I’ll kill him,” I mutter.

“No,” she snaps. “I don’t want you fighting Vinn. I won’t ever go on jobs like that again.”

“He went against what I said, Raven.”

“I don’t care. If you want to help me, you’ll leave this alone. I’ll deal with Vinn myself.”

“You’re not to go near Vinn Romano again,” I say firmly, and she looks up at me through wet lashes. “If you want me to leave it alone, you’ll stay the fuck away from him.”

“I work for him,” she whispers.

“Not anymore. I’ll find you something else. Vinn is bad news and he put you in serious danger tonight.”

“Why do you care so much?” she asks.

“Maybe I’m making up for past fuck-ups,” I mutter. “This is my chance to make shit right. I’ll take care of you, Raven. Stop fighting me.”

She snuggles tighter against me, and I wrap my arms around her. Maybe this is why I ended up here in London, why our paths crossed. She needed someone, and that someone, is me.

When I wake with Raven still in my arms and an erection the size of a mountain, I shift uncomfortably. She feels me press against her arse and stiffens. I feel like a prick as I get up from the bed and head for the bathroom. It’s the morning after she was almost assaulted, and she wakes up with my cock against her arse. I step in the cold shower, but it doesn’t do much to dull the ache in my balls. It’s been months since I fucked anyone or had that release. Wrapping a towel around my waist, I return to the bedroom to find her sitting up in bed, looking through her mobile. “I’m gonna get dressed. I’ll come get you for breakfast,” I say.

Her eyes dart to the semi I’m trying to hide and she blushes. “Actually, I might give breakfast a miss today.”

The bruise on her face is dark this morning. Not even makeup’s gonna hide it. “Get dressed, Raven. We’re having breakfast.”

Once I’m dressed, I go back to her room. She’s still sitting in bed. “I’m really not hungry.”

“I told you last night I’d take care of you, so we’re having breakfast.”

“Fine, let’s go out for breakfast. If I have to eat one more of Frankie’s cooked breakfasts, I’ll scream.”

“You know, avoiding everyone won’t make it better. It’ll just make everyone ask more questions.”

She sighs. “Just give me today.”

I nod, holding out my hand. “Fine.”

Once she’s dressed, we head straight out, avoiding seeing anyone other than a couple of the prospects who are out washing the bikes. I head for a cafe a few streets away. It does a variety of breakfasts, and Raven smiles when she sees the menu and decides to order a fruit selection. Frankie doesn’t bother to cook the healthiest breakfasts cos the guys always want bacon.
